Son only scored 4 in his first season.

Haaland is a freakish player, he's an exception to pretty much every footballing rule or norm one might suggest.

Well if people insist going on about KDB and Son then there's hope for Bailey isn't there !
My thoughts are only with Archer now.

Anyway. Its known that some young UK players do well getting a loan or move to Germany it's  a great league despite people pouring scorn.

Now I think its agreed and understood lets retain our focus on Archer, but I want to make sure I've shown why I disagree with the idea that German league players can't adapt to life in this country. Given that Haaland had already scored so many goals since arriving here, I found it hard to believe what I was reading. Such info being excluded from the observation seems clear and obvious. It was too convenient. For the sake of accuracy and a fair conversation, I had to intervene for h and v honorable discussions sake. We've readdress the balance and Haaland highlights without doubt that a player can come from Bundesliga to settle. It's so staggering clear nothing more needs to be said for me.

Who has poured scorn on anything? The premier league is quite clearly the number 1 league in the world, if you want to debate that then there's mountains of evidence against you, to the point that even you can't bullshit your way around it. That doesn't mean every other league is shit, just that there is a step up involved. That step up is harder from some of the top 5 leagues than others because of how teams on those leagues play. Football in Spain and France is much closer to how it's played in England so those players generally settle in faster. This is neither complex or controversial for anyone but you.

Also literally no one said players can't adapt from Germany to England but rather that it's clearly more difficult than from other leagues. Stop going back to Haaland, it's pointless as you've been told. Aside from him both of the other examples you've given took time, which is exactly what I said. Oh and no one excluded Haaland from the observation, he's an exception, they happen, and there's no need for you to uphold the honour of the forum (whatever the fuck that means), especially given you regularly creates fantasies about our players based on pure conjecture.

Oh and just to be clear I'm not writing Bailey off, there's a lot I like about him and think some of the criticism of him is unfair but in the position he's playing he does need to have more impact on games.

Not sure I'd have Son in the top 5 this season - I love him as a player, but he's having a stinker of a season if you listen to Spurs fans.

Although listening to Spurs fans is never usually a good idea.

Maybe if Son shook-up his goalscoring celebration, it might help change his fortunes. Of course he needs to score first but that wanky picture-frame thing is almost as bad as Gareth Bale's "heart" post-goal gesture.

Playing a lot of games in Germany, like other European leagues, can - unfortunately - give a distorted impression of a players performance level, because the standard of the teams is not universal across the league.  The gap in quality between top and bottom in the Bundesliga is far bigger than it is here.  Same in Spain, or Italy. The top teams in each of those leagues are excellent, but the standard drops off quite heavily as you work down the league table. What the means is, players at the top teams in those leagues are going to have "easier" games from time to time.  Speed merchants are going to be playing several times a season against relatively "slow" full-backs.  The standard of the premier league (in terms of the average standard of the teams from top to bottom) is far ahead of that in other leagues.  There are no "easy" games in the premier league.  Yes, sometimes the newly-promoted teams at the very bottom can become the whipping boys, but for the most part teams 15th and up would almost certainly finish top half in other European leagues, IMO.

I think a young player wanting a good premier league career would develop FAR more by playing every week for a Championship team in the promotion mix, than playing abroad. Regular games, a good standard, some genuine pressure to perform.  That might be different if the team loaning them is in Europe every year, in which case some continental experience could be valuable, but i don't think that applies to us, yet.

Anyway, here's to Cam scoring 10 goals, including the Wembley winner to get Boro promoted via the play-offs, then coming back to us to hit the Premier League full of confidence next season!

Good post Smithy. It's why I also think that whilst Jude Bellinghm is a fine young player, he wouldn't immediately sort out of all Liverpool's woes at a stroke if they sign him.

I agree, he looks like a huge talent but I do think he's been over-hyped a little in the last year or so and that he'll find it hard to meet expectations if he goes to somewhere like Liverpool. I think him, and his advisor, are aware of that as well which is why they've been so cagey.
