Getting Archer out on loan could have waited until nearer the end of the window, there were plenty of takers.
I agree the Ings deal was too good to turn down.

True, but it only looks that way with hindsight at the time 5-6 months with a team that are likely to be in or around the playoffs looked like the perfect opportunity for him (and I suspect it will turn out as exactly that).

I think you have to look at Archer and Duran together and move the Ings decision to one side.
Archer needs games and goals, he's settled at the club and we know what he's capable of so getting him that gametime on loan is what he needs.
Duran is new to the club, league and country he needs stability and help with all the stuff around being a player, keeping him at the club is what he needs.

As I see it we've done right by both of them both from a personal perspective and from a club stance and everyone involved will be better for this come the summer. Selling Ings has served to make things look different though and that's a shame, hopefully we get someone in and don't need to worry about that any more.

Looking at the Boro forum, their fans are very impressed with Cam.

That's just Legion posting under different usernames😀

He was their motm, good start for him, hopefully the goals start coming.

Another good game yesterday for him. Got the full 90 minutes in a 3-0 win. Just needs his first goal to kick-start things. Selflessly created loads of space for others to utilise.

The way Boro are playing, I can see them nicking second spot off Sheff United.

Watching some extended highlights of their game yesterday, Archer is a proper footballer, he pretty much has the lot. He's just missing a goal but I doubt he'll have to wait long.

Sounds very promising this feedback on Archer, he’s found the right club for him to give him some decent experience. This can only be good for us long term.

I’m sure he could’ve done a job for us wide right of the front 3. I’d have had him on at half time against Leicester but the signs are good that he’ll come back to us ready to challenge.

Hope so.

You can see the quality and touch are there. He stands out in the championship and all he needs is a chance to shine. Bailey had a woeful 1st half last week and we just had to leave him on. He uses the ball better and can finish. He could save us a fair few quid next season.

He really looks the part. Hope him and Tim become fully integrated first team contenders next season.
