Give him a start. He'll do as much running around as Watkins, but then doesn't have a touch like a pogo stick.

Agreed.

If we are playing with two forwards where it actually works as part of the system then having Cam come on for one of the two makes a lot of sense. When you play with one and usually that is Watkins then invariably, out of seniority Ings is always going to first choice. Not saying that is right or fair mind you. Tonight the right thing would be play him from the start. Gerrard knows his time is almost up so he has nothing to lose. Give him 90 minutes to go at the Fulham back line, and if need be take him off late on for Ings.

Chance of a match or minutes tonight or sunday as Emery has a fondess of using his squad.

If Emery goes 4-4-2 then yes a chance to start say with Ings and rest Watkins.
But take 4-4-1-1 then its from the bench.  I also hope he's not used from the left but as a striker.

The lad seems to be in the same position as what Davis was i.e. a loan would be best for his development, but we might be worried about having enough cover in that position.

In his 10 minutes against Brighton he never had a chance in front of goal but he didn't half put some work in chasing down the opposition. it was like watching 10 minutes of shuttle runs. Great work effort for the cause.

And its stuff like this that gives a Manager confidence in a player. We know if given the chances he'll in all likelihood bang goals in for fun but sometimes your ability to do other stuff to the Managers remit builds trust and confidence. If Ings or Watkins get injured then Unai knows that Archer can do the ugly team stuff as well as the goal stuff. All part of his continuing development.

I would rather he played than Ings tbh. He might even be preferred to Watkins. Although it would be interesting to see how either do over a period of time under Emery.
