It's only to be expected that we are going to look choppy at times. We are going into a much better standard league versus most teams that have made minimal changes to last year. But it shows that we have options and no way can any player drop their performance levels. We have completed signings yet to come in and contribute, we have new players yet to be purchased and some will leave. We might not have a settled line up until October. But it's going to be a lot of fun on this newest journey.

It all sounds vary good. When does the Bundesliga season start? I remember getting excited when we beat Milan in a pre-season friendly a number of years ago but they were 2 or 3 weeks behind in their preparation. Presumably Leipzig are the same.

They play next Sunday in the German Cup.

Were Marvelous or Luiz among the subs? Guessing not and it’s Hourihane against spurs? In which case great for him to get a couple of confidence enhancing goals today.

Marvelous was, Luiz wasn't.  I don't recall seeing Hogan's name among them, I'll have to have another look.

Wes looked way too isolated to me. Another forward is a must imo

I don't think bringing in another forward makes him less isolated.

Agree. Conversely, I thought kodjia looked sharp and confident when he came on I agree with people elsewhere on here that he could have a decent cameo role this reason - depending on whether we do any more transfer business.

A good workout today. Well done Conor and John on getting the goals. Mings was unlucky with his effort off the bar. Heaton showed his worth. Great work UTV!

Didn't see it but fantastic win that, Leipzig only a week behind us in preparation but very good team.

Looking at the stats it appeared one of those backs to the wall away wins we used to be so good at under MON. I think that looks promising as I think we'll be stronger at home than away this season which bucks the trend of majority of our recent prem seasons.

Baring a late injury I imagine the 11 we started today is what we'll see at Spurs. Lack of subs seems to indicate it.

I wouldn't call it a back to the walls win. I would suggest today there was a very defined period of time that they were the better team. And overall they are despite the win. But we showed plenty of invention ourselves, plenty of things to be optimistic about and very optimistic about and a good number of things to work on. Today was essential because will be better than this lot. They have a very settled line up, with some really outstanding players and arguably the best forward in the PL. This game showed how much faster teams will press us, how much they will move without the ball, and how much more strategic the coaching will be against us. We gave a very account of ourselves overall.
