I've been critical of his quality, but credit where it's due, he did well today.

Douglas Luiz isn't going to walk straight back into the team, especially given his poor cameo today. Well done Marvellous though, he was everywhere today.

Luiz always looks like a red card to waiting to happen. Nakamba stays disciplined.

Gerrard is playing him where he does his best work, in front of the back 4 in the middle.  We don't need 2 men in there, which was, in my opinion, one of Dean's major problems always wanting to defend the defence.  He sat in the Makelele Hole and did his job.  If his passing was 20% better he'd be a very good player.  Worth keeping especially if Dougie is going to go all prima donna on us.

Marvelous had a good game today but got booked trying to recover after his own mistake.

He was very good in the second half last week, if he can just work on his concentration and decision making.

I don’t know about today, but I’m sure someone said his passing stats vrs Brighton was 97%

When Marv plays well, we win. On his off days seems to be an Alan Wright like scapegoat. Keep up the good work Marv.

I think he’s genuinely pretty effective most of the time.  He has limits but he can be very effective.
TBH - I think he gets too much stick - I’m less annoyed by a limited player who sometimes come up short then some of our other players who have the talent but are inconsistent

In a narrow midfield, with the wider players tucking in as well, he looks far more effective.

I don’t mean this sound like a dig but it’s going to. The fact the Marv has become so important just shows poor our midfield play overall has been. We are never going to be a dominant midfield if Marv is one of our best players.

Yes, scythed down Zaha, deserved the yellow he got.

He's not there to look pretty, it's his job to win the ball in midfield and break up the play, he did that perfectly today.
Never looks tired he could play another ninety.

Shame it was the one thing he didn't do properly all game. What a disgrace of a player Zaha is. Literally more concerned with provocation and cheating than playing most of the time. It's a shame, as he's a talent.

And the biggest moaner/grumpy bastard stuck playing with his "beloved" Palace. Like you say great talent but hard to like.
