Did he though?  I'm not sure he did deep down.  He was our easiest saleable asset when we had to sell, I don't recall him actively wanting out.

He wanted to join Arsenal and threatened to leave if we didn’t pay him what Coutinho was earning. At least that’s what I was told by someone ITK

I heard also that months before he left he had a very nice contract offered but did not want to sign it.

Never go back - it rarely works out

Probably time for this to go back in the right place.

Get them to add "CLARET AND B" before it and people will think it's deliberate and you were just using down with the kids spelling.

Being reported as an option to buy him at the end of the loan.

Let's hope we end up buying him then.

Let's hope the "option" isn't based on minimum number of games and we don't end up refusing to play him.

I guess they'd probably frame that as a form of 'obligation'? How did they describe the Elliot deal?

He might not be the best available midfielder but he's the best available who knows Unai's style.  In our current situation we can't afford to have someone who spends the rest of the season getting used to us, we need a player who could step in on Sunday if necessary.

Indeed. Fingers crossed he can stay fit for a few months and is (Gerrard alert) the best version of himself.
