Since Makelele / Viera / Keane, this position has been vital in Premier a league football. Think how vital Kante was for Leicester etc. This lad will get better and better when he gets to grips with the pace of the game. Ability wise, he certainly has ‘it’.

Left out, some would say harshly, after the international break.  Sees Marvelous play well, Hourihane get a goal... comes on and has to show why he should be playing.

Having decent strength in depth and good substitute options is definitely  very important across the season.

Also, must be remembered that we have quite a few players that are young, new to the league and/or country and being in a position to bed them in slowly and not having to rush them is probably helpful. Added bonus if we can bring them into a team that is doing well of course.
