It's amazing how many of this site's readers are involved in the contract negotiations!! This is turning into one hell of a summer! Blown away by the level of input from the new owners, and the total change of direction in our transfer policy. Oh happy day!
It's like an elaborate loan deal in effect. We sign him for £15 and, if Man City want him back, they pay £Xm. If we wanted him on loan, we'd probably pay £4m - £5m and only have him for a year.
Given our stance on loans and not improving a player for someone else the buy back clause if probably just a way of Man City ensuring they get last dibs. Money for them isn’t a problem so it could be that we make a sizeable profit should they come in for him.
Quote from: frank black on July 12, 2019, 01:40:38 PMThey won’t be getting first dibs. They will have the right to buy him back at a predefined price at predefined points (probably at each seasons end) and we won’t get a choice. Likewise I would also be sure there’s some profit for us, but not amazing. This is a clever work permit busting ruse by city.Yep, and if he helps is stay in the league and gives us a platform to build on then it will all have been totally worth it.
