With Torres hinting he's likely to head back to Spain once his two years are up then it's clear we need to be signing a potential CB replacement this season. Torres misses far too many games and Mings isn't the answer. Lindelof provided great cover last season but isn't the answer medium/long term either.

Yes, and we still have Martinez, Cash, Torres,  Konsa, McGinn, Watkins, Lindelof, Mings, Barkley, Buendia, Abraham, Bailey, and Bizot who will all turn 29 or older this coming season. That?s a big, enforced turnover over the next few seasons ? and will likely be an expensive one too.

We should be well in credit for player transfers this summer. If wages are the issue then maybe we should be redirecting the Paulinha contract to a center half instead. I think Gomes can do that role and more.

I agree with what Brontebilly has said, we need to keep Konsa for at least this coming season, selling him now when he still has two years left on his contract would be a big mistake on a number of fronts.

If Tielamans, Rogers, and Digne hadnt go e, I would of said thanks for the last 7 years, bit of a modern day club ledge and sell. However those three and konsa are all top players, leaders in the dressing room and kind of a good chunk of the spine of the team.
I really think four in one go is too much turnover, given most new signings will take time to bed in.

Konsa is ?only? on ?70k week so he may sign a contract anyway if no one offers the cash this summer.

Ultimately he only leaves on our terms.

Exactly where I am on this. It?s the cumulative impact of losing key players. It may be that some of the signings coming in become top players for us, but we?re definitely losing 3, and possibly 4, who have been top players for us. The more we lose the chances of that ratio netting out decreases.

Really? If Konsa leaves we haven?t got enough there without replacing him in my view. It?d be a big ask for Cisse and Carroll to come in for any length of time. Mings looked a bit ropey last season so you?d be looking at a Lindelof Torres partnership for a good portion of the season and the latter missed quite a few games last year.

It?s tough as we might not want to block the path of the youngsters but if Konsa goes I don?t think we?ve got enough.
