I don't want it be Mourinho for any just reason, more for a laugh really and to see him completely upset the 'Club England' vibe that Southgate has made his name on.

Ah, I see! Well in that case I'm all for it.

Southgate would be a Dick not to take him.

Fixed that for you.

I feel so sorry for Mings. He must have watched these matches knowing that if fit, he would have been a shoo-in.

You really believe that Southgate would be picking Mings as one of his first choice centre halves? There was a time a few years back when Tyrone played 3/4 games in a row due to injuries and was very competent, with no mistakes etc and he then later dropped him from future teams.

Good statto article in The Grauniad about centre backs and the benefit of a settled centre half pairing. Konsa and Torres lead the way with an 87.5% win ratio and are second in the xG ratings with 0.97 per 90 minutes.  We should not be considering any other pairing if at all possible.  We need to cover Cash’s injury with somebody other than Konsa.

I read that earlier and did wonder if our fantastic Konsa-Torres partnership was the one played most this season? Eight times is nothing for our best pairing.

Maybe if we threw in the CL games too we'd see:

Clément Lenglet has played 22 games so far;
Diogo Carlos 27 games;
Konsa 37 games;
Torres a very surprising 29 games;
Chambers 4 games;
Mings just the one.

And there was me at the beginning of the season thinking Unai was mad having six central defenders.

How often is Stones unfit? Seems to play most games for Citeh and he's one of the best players in the world in his position.

Quite a bit, for sure he's a top defender when fit -

Six central defenders plus Kamara who has played there in the past.

I reckon that there'll be a new manager in six months, and both Dunk and Mings will be in the old guard that are pushed out.

I've not given much thought to him going, who would replace him? It might work out nicely if Beheddie Howe gets the call to the embassy at Newcastle as seems likely at some point in the near future.
Howe's the obvious choice and I think he'd do a great job.  But it will be nauseating seeing tan-man Tindall dominating all the photos if we ever win anything.  It won't be an iconic Bobby Moore esk image, it will be Tindall's teeth.

You might be right with the Southgate thing, but leaving that aside
When both players are fully fit and in their prime Mings is a far better quality player than Konsa in my opinion

Tindall's Teeth - his mam had high hopes of dentistry for her son.

Deserves it too, he’s been brilliant this season.
