He's a much better defender but his attacking play and particularly, crosses, are shocking. Forget any talk of England until he starts getting that right too.

He had one tonight. Woeful passing and crossing and thought he should've done better for the goal. Proper 2019 level.

Had a good season so hopefully a one off.

That's the first bad game he's had, and I can't think of many others in the first team who that applies to.

He had a bit of a nightmare for sure, as did most of them out there. Passing was woefully bad and the movement off the ball was non existent.

He didn't have any defending to do but my word, he was abysmal with his delivery tonight.

Good players have off nights. Even Messi misses penalties. Targett has been superb all season but he needs to work on his crossing this week. Very unlike him.

Was quite obvious tonight that his link-up with Jack is what gives him the time and space to put good crosses in.  He didn't have that link-up tonight, which meant most of his possession in the final third was pretty static and with a defender in front of him, and his crossing was well below his standards as a result.  He's much better on the run, going into space created by Jack.

I don't think he's offered as much going forward this season in general. Can't think of any tasty crosses and with Jack in front of him, he seems to have taken a bit more of a back seat this season. Just seems to have done more short passing interplays like what he did with Jack and Barkley against Arsenal.

Agree with this. He looks a lot better going forward when his play links with Jack.

Fully-deserved. The odd-looking bugger has worked harder than anyone in the first-team squad since "Project Restart". He grew courage, and now plays like a lion. Fair play.

I donít think it was courage because that suggests he was a coward which would be very unfair. I think heís grown in confidence and belief in his own ability. I think along with the credit he deserves much should go to Mings who is on his side of the defence along with the coaching staff. Mings, yes makes the odd mistake but he is a really good leader and communicator and has no doubt helped Matt get better.
