A left back is priority in the window
I read rumour on twitter " Aston Villa preparing to make ‘monster offer’ for Borussia Dortmund defender Raphael Guerreiro. Villa are willing to offer a pay package & wage that cannot be turned down to both #BVB & the player. Villa have MONEY to spend this January."

If that happened would be amazing and 100% upgrade on Targett

He'd still have Dean Smith as a manager though.

Anyone know what his injury was last night and how bad it is?

Got in an aerial challenge in the second half.  Think it was either a clash of heads or his head hit the ground when he came down.

Their player had absolutely no intention of getting the ball and played the man, acknowledged by Dean as a foul with his play on gesture.

Of course, as ever, no further action taken.

Looked like concussion so probably misses the weekend but should be back for Liverpool.

Yeah, he never was never close to the ball, it was dangerous play and should have been a stick on yellow.

For all Matt Targett improvement he isn't fit enough or aggressive enough for Gerrard as well as having little attacking ability , crossing and passing level that's needed for the next step.

I think he would be a better leftside centre half in a 3

That’s a bit harsh, SG plays the full backs differently give him a chance mate

I caught a glimpse of his little sad face on the bench on Saturday and it made me sad as well.

You can see Digne is a cut above but it doesn't make Targett a bad player, it means that's one area of the squad we can be happy we're well stocked.

Linked with Newcastle. It would be nice to face him in February, we certainly know his weaknesses.
