His crossing is very poor. Hits the first man constantly.

That's not great for a wing back.

It was fine when he was just at left back. His confidence looks in tatters now aswell. Maybe it was always going to be a bit of a struggle for him after Grealish left. They worked well as a pair on the left flank last season. LWB is simply not his position.

having 2 players out wide meant there was always a chance for one of them to drag a player or 2 out of position and open a gap, Targett thrived on the gaps Grealish created. Now he has no one shifting defenders and he hasn't got the technical ability to create those gaps himself so he's either crossing from poor positions or under too much pressure. Put Bailey in front of him and he'd be back to his old self in a matter of weeks.

Hope so as I don't think Young is up to it even on a short term basis. Even in the second half tonight he looked all over the place. Seemed to jump under a header in our box at one point which looked terrible. Time to go back to basics.

Vs West Ham first half
Still we persist with playing Targett.
I've been saying and hoping more can see his deficiencies
Yet again weak defending and play on the ball.
Awful

100% agree. It's not like we haven't got others that can play there

He's no good without the Grealish get out clause in front of him.

Just back to making poor decisions I'm afraid.

Was practically playing as a CB in build up to 1st goal given how infield he was and can't understand how Antonio flicked it on for the 4th when he jumped early.

Not as bad as 19/20 but not a good season from him so far.

That challenge on Antonio was a disgrace...that done on one of our players and we would be in meltdown here

Or when he's playing in a stadium full of people?

That 'tackle' was laughable at the end on Antonio.
Some sort of high tackle in rugby league code he be off
If they hadn't scored VAR may have revisited it.

Certainly between Hause and Targett the players showed some force!
Two of the worst tackles I've ever seen in rugby on a football pitch!

Yep. I think the ref bottled that one, as they scored anyway. If it had been 1-1 I think he'd have been off. He's gone back to being the shit Targett we saw in his first season.

Then he'll have to stick to playing FIFA in his bedroom.

A left back is priority in the window
I read rumour on twitter " Aston Villa preparing to make ‘monster offer’ for Borussia Dortmund defender Raphael Guerreiro. Villa are willing to offer a pay package & wage that cannot be turned down to both #BVB & the player. Villa have MONEY to spend this January."

If that happened would be amazing and 100% upgrade on Targett
