Shocking. I’ve never seen that image before. I have to question if Mee does it intentionally or if he’s just a shit player that can’t time a tackle…or both.

That "tackle" was 100% intentional.

Of course it was. You can't perform a scissor tackle like that without meaning it. It's not like he was just a bit late and caught the man accidentally. Tackles like that should be a minimun 12 game ban.

There were a couple of very similar challenges in the Everton game on Monday. Must be something they practise.

Burnley are the modern day Wimbledon. There's a thought that with there being more lenient refereeing this season that Burnley will take advantage of that.

He may have not meant the break , but the consequence of a tackle like that has more chance of that outcome

I’d say it was a half time instruction to put a reducer on him when the opportunity arises as he was making mugs of them.

Absolutely, Wes had been all over him up to that point and he took his chance to put in a reducer. It was a fucking awful tackle and is a perfect example of why 'I got the ball' it such a wank defence that too many people in the game accept without question.

Mee's a thug end of. Should have been prosecuted for GBH.

It's very rare for a professional 5o make the comments Wesley has, I'm glad he has though and I hope more is made of it.

I actually meant if he makes these kind of mistimed challenges intentionally all the time rather than just the one on Wes. This guy has a reputation for this kind of thing (well certainly amongst Villa fans), and it’s only a matter of time before another player gets seriously injured. How many other serious injuries has this guy caused so far…is there any way of checking? I’d prefer it if “players” like this were actually banned for life rather than just a few games.

He did the same thing to Joe Gomez about a year before Wes.

Was about to post the same thing - it certainly is not a one off

Ben Mee has a lot to answer for

Thanks both. It comes as no surprise and wouldn’t be so if he seriously injures another player in the future. Can players sue other players for serious injury (especially those that have a history of causing serious injury), and do the football authorities have the powers to permanently ban a player if they are deemed as being a danger to other players on the pitch?

Gary Stevens of Spurs tried to do that. I can't remember whether it was successful.
