If Wes did hold it up, he was mostly doing it 35 yards from goal in midfield.

A lot of our game is on the deck now, we very rarely punt it high so I don’t see any issues with Wes not being the best in the air. He was great with his feet, holding the ball and linking play so he could now be a better fit.
I'm not sure I agree with this.  My recollection was the ball seemed to mostly bounce miles off him and was often an easy pick up for a defender.  I don't recall him ever really trapping it on a sixpence like Watkins is capable of.  It was once of the big frustrations with him, a bloke of his size and he couldn't head the ball or hold it up.  Hopefully he'll improve.

He's not great at balls fired high up to him, and managing the attention of the centre half in those circumstances, but I think it can be taught, it's just that he's not ever played that way.

He struggled a bit at times holding defenders off effectively, his touch is good otherwise and that part willl develop the more he plays over here, but he's much more comfortable playing touch football around people. His goals against Everton and Burnley were good examples his type of goals, smart finishes off well timed runs. I'd say his size suggests he's a different player to what he actually is, but as long as he gets his fitness back I could see him thriving in a technically better team.

He's more of a threat than Davis that is for sure, low bar or not.

We can see by the posts that he is getting closer to a return from the injury - heaven forbid he reads anything if he actually plays a part of a game.

Wesley has been out for a very long time now, so no doubt he's become a "beast" and "class" during his period of absence.

The harsh reality is he's a tactically inept, static, limited player with no pace who can't head or score goals from outside the area. He has a few good qualities, but nothing to write home about. I would be looking to offload him in the summer.

I don't see Reading getting promoted this season, so I think we should dip back into the Championship market and take Lucas Joao off their hands. A very strong, pacy unit with a good first touch who bullies defenders - exactly what we need.

I like how he's proven himself 'tactically inept'.

Lucas Joao as a replacement is my favourite part of that post.

The lazy and inaccurate "you only rate him because you've forgotten how shit he was" is annoying though, there's plenty on here who thought the shit he got week after week was ridiculous at the time.

I think only Matt Targett fulfils that criteria at the moment.

Konsa? I remember seeing comments about him being a waste of money for a 4th choice centre half.

Hardly at the levels of criticism that Wes got in volume or veracity.
