Where is Wes? Anyone know how far away he is from being in the matchday squad?

We were all screaming for his head last time out, but hopefully now, in a MUCH better Villa team, he'll have a better time of it. We bloody need him!

Back training properly now, and Smith said he wanted him to start playing U23 matches. I still reckon it'll be mid April before he even gets close to the first team squad.

Indeed.

Can see him going out on loan next year to a less demanding league, just to get the fitness up.

Even with a full pre season behind him it will be difficult to make an impact in the top flight after so long out.

Wesley’s recovery shows how fucking awful Mee’s challenge was. I’m not saying there was intent behind what he did, but those scissor tackles should have extremely severe sanctions. There’s a decent chance Wes will take 18 months to 2 years to properly recover.

I'm saying there was intent. Mee is a dirty, fucking player. Reminds me of one of his forebears, Ben Thatcher .

Yeah, I doubt Mee was thinking "I'm going to do this lads knee" but he was definitely throwing himself in to that tackle with a mentality of "have some of this" to try to intimidate Wes.

Partly because Wes had utterly schooled him for the previous hour, both physically and mentally. As ever with limited players like Mee, reckless use of physicality is their only weapon and too many Referees let them get away with it.

Nobody makes tackles like that unless you're trying to leave one in on a player.

Utter snide.

100% Mee wanted to hurt him. He was clearly getting across to the ball first, he slowed down a bit so Wes got closer then clattered through him. Total ******.

I posted this years ago I think.  There was a bloke that lived around  these parts whose name was Toss Mee.  Toss being an abridged form of Thomas.

I’m sure I’d like him too, Roger Mee.
