And I'm pretty sure that David Targett's real name is David Targett, not Bob Davis.

Doc Targett was at the fireworks party when John Gidman had the dreadful injury. Doc went to the hospital with John and when they were told that the eye would have to be removed he refused to let them go ahead and saved John's eye and his career.

Re the Jasper Carrot suite. Donít forget we have a David Targett Suite.

But he served as the club doctor for over twenty years !

We've had this argument before somewhere on here, and it was along these lines. Rather like the appropriation of Peaky Blinders in a desperate attempt to be relevant, Small Heath named a suite after a famous fan who took the piss out of the club rather than someone who actually made a contribution to it's running.

He did make a contribution.  He was on their board for a few years.  And he took the piss because heís an observational comedian.  He had humility.  And he used to take the piss out of most things Midlands football related at the time.  I like Jasper.  There Iíve said it.

I love Carrott. I saw his rock and roll comedy show in Eastbourne two years ago.

I'm sure I've said it on here before, but I gigged with him once. A nice man.

"Allo Tone 'Arry ere"! I loved his books 'A Little Zit On The Side' and 'Sweet And Sour Labrador' when I was a kid. I have told this story before but one of the kids who lived around the corner from me in the early eighties and was known to be a bullshitter told us one evening that his Dad was mates with Jasper Carrott and that Carrott and his wife were coming to visit. We didn't believe it until Mr & Mrs Carrott rocked up. One of us shouted "Are you Jasper Carrott"? to which he replied "no" but his wife said to us "yes he is". My main memory is how impressed I was that he was driving a white Jag XJS the same as Simon Templar in Return Of The Saint.
I used to like Carrott's Saturday night show but I never really got into 'The Detectives'.

Carrot used to attend a fair few of the bigger Villa matches even when the B-lose weren't involved.

I remember him being picked out in the crowd or being interviewed at half time on a few occasions in the late 80s or early 90s.

For one of That Lot, he always came across as a reasonable sort.

Let's face it, if he wanted to watch decent football close to home, he wasn't going to get that at Bordesley. Then or ever.
