I watched highlights of the 73 Leeds Sunderland Cup Final yesterday. It was the first Final I properly remember and thoroughly enjoyed it again.

A few days back I was watching highlights of the 1970 Chelsea v Leeds FA Cup final and replay. Normal football rules didn't seem to apply. It appeared to be part football and part mixed martial arts.

Terrible football. A time when cheats and bullies were allowed to prosper. How many promising young players were kicked out of the game by scum like that?

Nah, that would be Ireland v Australia at Compromise rules (mix of Aussie and Gaelic football). Starts getting tasty around the 1.30 mark.

I can understand 'in the heat of the moment' stuff, but most of that, like a lot of the violence in Rugby seems to be twats following up fouls with additional violence with no good reason, just thuggery.

None of that shit has ever appealed to me.

For those who are incredibly bored during lockdown, or for Damo, if you want to watch your money disappear, there is Danish, Portuguese and Polish football on FreeSports (Sky channel 422) this week. Plus German stuff on BT and, for some reason, German Ladies on BBC Alba.

One of the funniest games ever is on iplayer, complete with blarting fans as it's the original live broadcast. I still remember the hilarity on the thread at the time.

Was amusing, that. Slight shame that, as I recall, Germany missed a sitter near the end then Brazil went up the other end and scored. Eight-nil would have been even funnier.

Cheltenham Town have been doing the “cardboard cutout” thing with fans. Nothing unusual there.

They’ve raised a much needed £19K and got 563 fans in all parts of the ground, ready for the playoff with Northampton Town. But, here’s the best bit....

7 Northampton fans have also paid to have theirs in the away end!

Fair play, that's already more than Blose or Albion have taken to an away game this season.

For those who want to check out the Portuguese league then Free sports channel showing Portuguese live football
Famalicao v Porto 915 pm

With only one point separating Porto and Benfica in the Liga Nos title race, Sergio Conceicao's side can't afford to drop points away to Famalicao.

Benfica will play tomorrow also on free sports
Looks like they are covering Portuguese league as have Sporting Lisbon on too.

Just throwing out there for some live football. Aside from German league
