There would be a really good joke in there along the lines of "cleaning out the opposition" or "foaming" or Greek mythology but Unilever stopped making Ajax the Foaming Cleanser so I pick Crvena Zevezda as the benchmark because they are worth most at Scrabble.

Boro to squeak into sixth, play attritional football and somehow beat Leeds. Then be schooled like always, against us at Wembley.
That would be nice.

It’s exactly what my money is on.

Winning Streaks in World Club football:

Team                  Tournament         Streaks (Played)
1   Manchester City   Premier League          10 (34)
2   Aston Villa           Championship          9 (43)

Man City lost at Tottenham. We should be top.

Pretty sure they won...

I've just checked and Manchester City (one) defintely scored more goals than Spurs (none).

I have looked at the laws of the game and Law 10 states "The team scoring the greater number of goals is the winner. If both teams score no goals or an equal number of goals the match is drawn."

What about shoot outs?  I was always taught that every law must be defined in time.  Not correcting you ALita, but surely the law should state "af the conclusion of the match".

I don't make the laws, talk to the FA !
Anyway a bit more from law 10.

"Winning team

The team scoring the greater number of goals is the winner. If both teams score no goals or an equal number of goals the match is drawn.

When competition rules require a winning team after a drawn match or home-and-away tie, the only permitted procedures to determine the winning team are:
away goals rule
two equal periods of extra time not exceeding 15 minutes each
kicks from the penalty mark

A combination of the above procedures may be used
Kicks from the penalty mark

Kicks from the penalty mark are taken after the match has ended and unless otherwise stated, the relevant Laws of the Game apply."

Penalty mark ? Who calls it a mark ? According to the law, all of us calling it a spot have been wrong !

Do we have a chance???, most certainly we do, however, it's right now we need to show the kind of quality that will take us up and keep us up, no slip ups, no nerves no naivety, do the job and get to the next stage and on we go.

At the risk of offending you ALita, which is no way my intention, it seems odd that there is no "upon the conclusion of the duration of the game" in defining a won, lost or drawn game.

I agree and you make an interesting point, and I'm not offended at all. Law 7 talks about the duration of the game but again no mention that the result is defined at the conclusion.

I couldn't give one-infinitieth of a fuck. Man City have won three in a row, we have won nine.

Get them out of that table.

Am I right in saying we are definitely in the play offs unless we lose our last two games and Derby win their last two and Bristol City win their last three whilst overturning our 15 goal difference advantage over them?

Which can't happen as they play each other. I can't see how we're not guaranteed.
