Cheers gents. He will be 4 at the end of April. Ever since he got a couple of Villa polo shirts and hats for Christmas he's been agitating like crazy to come. The ticket came in the post when we got back from nursery and his little face! He's clutching the receipt like ticket and I just hope we don't disappoint him.

Good luck mate. Hope we batter them and he keeps nagging you to take him to games. 😁

Lost at home to Ipswich 1-0 my first game.  Isn't the result that was important. Was completeky bowled over by the stadium and the atmosphere.  Sure it'll be the same for your lad.

Ads - take a bag full of crisps, choc bars etc and be prepared for him to be a bit scared by the shouting. My lad was 4 when he first went, still comes now he's 20 whenever he's back from Uni.

Start of a great journey mate.

It's daft things they like - my lad used to enjoy watching the kids playing footy on the pitch at the side of trinity road, then when a little older he'd have half a hotdog and run around on the kids play area. Then the first time we got train to Aston that was exciting. Then it was his job to mark the team changes on the back page of the programme. It's about the whole day out. Envy you just starting that all again.

Hope we win it for him.

Thanks for the tips. I figured food would be a good bet. An endless box of popcorn kept him glued to Lego Movie 2 the other week, so I'll have a bag stuffed full of treats.

I've had him watching the Autumn internationals previously by commentating to keep him engaged, so apologies to K3 residents for my likely non-stop wittering.

Feels like a rite of passage for him and me.

I think we all remember our first game, the noise, the smells the atmosphere.
I hope you have a great day.

Still at least the weather promises to be worse than the match!

Started taking my eldest when he used to have to come on my shoulders as it was too far to walk from the car park. Used to take snacks and a tablet - he'd watch a bit of football and then play on the tablet when he was bored (luckily he missed most of the 6 -0 against Liverpool!!!)

He slowly got into and has watched the whole match since about age 5. Almost 8 now and wears a McGinn shirt and totally loves the Villa.

It definitely feels like a rite of passage.  Like you’re handing down a family tradition, regardless of the gallows humour (life time of disappointment etc!).  And definitely take snacks.  My lad was 6 on his first game and I ran out at half time!!

What's the record for the division for matches drawn in a season?

I reckon we will start Jack so that will give us a boost and they are not playing that well so I'm going for a 2-0 Villa win.

Jack’s backs were winning this. We will look good on Saturday and even better when SJM returns.

I’m a little concerned by the high expectation levels. I hope everyone remembers that this is his first game back and shouldn’t be overly negative if the performance isn’t improved immediately or if the result doesn’t go our way.

Ii'm expecting him to score a hat-trick and get a few assists, even if he's only on for 20 minutes.
