We were blessed to have him play for us and now God is blessed to have him amongst his flock.  No doubts, God will ask Ian to wear the armband behind the pearly gates too.

Not a great weekend results wise but made even worse to hear of the death of Ian Ross .Along with Chris Nicholl he was one of my favourite Villa defenders of all time .Can picture him now raising the League Cup at Wembley after we beat Norwich  R I P Ian

I got to know Ian in the 80s. A very nice guy he was managing in Iceland at the time. We often reminisced about the 74/ 75 season but despite all the success of his time with us  I think he retained a lot of fondness for Liverpool.

A sad loss.

That game versus Sunderland at Villa Park is etched in my memory. Ian Ross was imperious that day. A vital part in our eventual European success. RIP captain.

That was the first thing I thought of when I heard the news: one of a select few Villa captains to have led a victorious team up the Wembley steps.
