Checks what Diego Carlos is up to these days...doing ok on loan at Como it seems. 21 starts this season.

There's probably some low block teams that Mings could do a job for next season. Just doesn't seem as dominant in the air or quick as he once was. Perhaps that's just confidence related, he's the wrong tactical fit for us and he will know that.

Thought Mings was less ponderous than he had been of late, as though someone had given him the memo about passing forward faster and more often, even though the back pass at the end was a bit of a choker.

He looked to be visibly struggling in the final portion of the game (which may explain the back pass at the end, incidentally - he may have just been too knackered to do anything else).

Going forward into the business end of things, what are the options at LCB?

Judging by fitness alone, Mings does not look like he has another 90 minutes in his locker this week.

Equally, Torres hardly (?) ever plays 2 games within the week after more or less November, when niggles creep in.

So something's going to have to give.
Pau is going to have to play against Liverpool and Freiburg.

Do we have any left-sided defenders coming through of note?

I like Routh but he's a couple of years away I'd think, I think he's got the highest potential of the young CBs from what I've seen.

Shouldn’t you be working on some unintentionally hilarious player rankings?

Or googling Dunning-Kruger effect?

Mosquera's done well recently for the U-21s.

Yep, and he seems to be a bit quicker than the others, which might be important.

Your grá for Diego was definitely hilarious. Anyway he's long gone now and Konsa/Torres are back doing ok without him (or this version of Mings). Lindelof is decent back there too. We do need another centre back over the summer.

No gra. Just an ability to count.

As starters this season it's 29% win rate with Mings and 65% with Pau. When both start it's 0% but that's only 2 games.

^^ Fair enough. I don’t think there’s been much debate about who the best partnership is this season, and as I’ve pointed out countless times to people arguing against reality,  I think it’s madness to argue against reality.

Although tbf, last season when Mings was coming out on top as a better defender was with a fit Kamara and this season most of Pau's games were with a fit Kamara, although I do feel Torres raised his game massively where Mings has dropped anyway.

Mings is finished and impacts the way we play negatively as well. His past two appearances have been incredibly poor. Every player has a shelf life.

Kamara has a silly win percentage of 70%. His injuries have cost us a title challenge. Best midfielder on the half turn by a mile now Rodri is gone as well. Genuinely world class is Boobie.
