I’m sick of hearing about ACLs now.

A character even just had one in the novel I was reading this afternoon.

From the replay, it looked so innocuous. How did it happen, his knee went a different way to the rest of him after he nudged the Barcode away from the ball?

Mentioned this when the Buendia news broke but this NFL player did his ACL just walking

Can't get that to embed properly https://youtu.be/DBWAouoJaUM

That's a strange one. There's usually a change of direction involved, possibly a jarring of the knee or studs getting caught in the ground.

Yes we have been unlucky this week but it does happen at other clubs. Ultimately the club will have to plan the season without him and to remain competitive . I am sure there are contingency plans for this sort of thing .

Like many others I’m gutted about Ty’s injury and wish our talisman a speedy recovery.

The poster makes a great point about contingency plans and reminded me about posts here earlier in the year where we were questioning the need for another left-footed CB.

Maybe we need to have a bigger club mentality here? It’s a genuine  shame that a fan favourite and crucial team member is out of action and it may also diminish his chance at Euro ‘24 sadly. But Villa have depth  ow and I’m sure virtually every team in the world would be envious of a team whose replacement CB was Pau Torres.

Arsenal have lost that Timber kid they just bought with a serious injury now.
Probably just dry rot with Timber.

Another thing I was thinking, this injury has made Southgate's life easy as he can stick to the useless Maguire.

Maguire could have done his ACL (sorry Paulie) and he'd still pick him.

Funny that a couple of weeks ago people were talking about number of  said injuries in the WSL and drawing conclusions that maybe it's a female  physiology thing and now in space of a week we have had 3 PL male players go down.

The frequency of these injuries atm is scary, I heard speculation at the weekend it might be due to the amount of water they chuck on the pitches these days, coupled with the textures of the pitches. Ty's foot did appear to slip for his.

Interesting piece about when they were less common place when Shearer did his 20 years ago. He played on for the rest of the match.

Could also be something to do with the amount of games they play.

There's too much football now.

Players don't get a proper rest any more.

3 male footballers compared to the equivalent of a whole World Cup squad in the women's game.

Caught part of a news feature on ACLs in the women's games, and apparently there are physiological reasons why there have been so many female footballers suffering them.

There’s a suspicion that football boots are designed for male physiology and not female so may need to be redesigned. I’d imagine there’s some proper musculoskeletal research that needs to be done.
