It's about proportionality though isn't it. He was arrested for using counterfeit money. Then whilst cuffed and already in custody, pleading for his life, the copper, who's priority should be to the protection of the public, snuffed his life out in broad daylight.

That is not the police 'doing their job'.  And the statistics suggest that it would've been far less likely to have happened if he'd been white.

I'm with ASHTON. Absolutely zero evidence that this murder was racially motivated whatsoever. The cop(s) will go to jail, hopefully for a long time, and rightly so. Whether it was racially aggravated at this stage is completely undetermined, irrespective of the world-wide commotion about the event.

Someone earlier in this thread mentioned George Floyd was an innocent man. I suggest you do some research, first.

Jesus christ. So having a criminal record means the police can kill you 13 years later?

A bit like when the Police woman shot the man in his own apartment because she made a mistake and her Dept specifically released that they found pot in his home as if that exonerated her.

It might not be racially motivated, but as I posted earlier, this is the same PD that stopped a black man because he looked like a suspect who was black and at him seven times through an open Window in front of his wife and child, but threw the book at a black cop who shot a white woman once. One plus point from this is that SOME Police in America seem to have decided to stop allowing kneeling directly on the neck as a legal form of restraint. Wonder what they will change that to next.

And even if he was passing a moody $20, he was murdered while under arrest on the floor and cuffed. Anyone that doesn't have a problem with that is a right wrong 'un imo.

If you believe the murder wasn’t racially motivated, that America is egalitarian or that we don’t have our own issues with institutional racism then you’re at best ignorant and deluded and at worst a part of the problem. I’m immensely proud of Tyrone (who has proven time and again to be a stand up role model) and think that any sanction from the club would be nothing short of reprehensible.

But the US is not even in the top 100 countries for police brutality. Look at the Philippines. Look at China, Russia.

Yeah, it's not as bad as one party repressive state, a one leader repressive state and a tinpot dictatorship where the leader thinks it's ok to go around summarily shooting people.

What criminal activity was he involved in as the forged bill has been proven to be absolute bollocks.

Has it? Not seen it reported, although even if it wasn't, still no need for that treatment.

Who said anything about a sanction?  You just made that up.

The rest is opinion.

This was not just about a fake $20 bill in its entirety as you're led to believe by what you've told in the media. No one will know fully until the police realise their version of the story, but it's widely reported that Floyd was:

"According to the toxicology report, Floyd had fentanyl and methamphetamine in his system when he died, as well as cannabis compounds and morphine" as well as a video showing him drop a 'packet of white substance' just prior to being searched. The police were there for a reason.

Again, I do not condone the fact he was killed whatsoever. But to claim it was racist, at this stage, is false.

I thought it had been reported it wasn't fake, maybe i'm mistaken. But as I said in a post afterwards, it makes no difference.

Yep there is absolutely no excuse, justification, or any kind of narrative that makes it ok.

Why is it false? There is absolutely nothing in your post to that point which suggests it wasn't racist. Or am I missing something?

keiron - you're not getting it.

If this was the first time a black person was killed by a cop in America you might have a point. But black people are disproportionally murdered by the police in America. It's an undisputable fact.

Whether this particular death was racially motivated or not is missing the point entirely. But seeing a black man murdered in cold blood by a white policeman is symbolic of the issue.
