Didn't paul_e have Hause, El Ghazi and Mings down at 10-12 million for the lot about a month ago?

Yep, but it was on the basis that there would be a value in the matching clause that became active at a certain date because I didn't see the point of the clause otherwise. As it turns out we agreed an utterly pointless clause in the loan agreement. Other than that we paid what I expected for Hause and El Ghazi.
I'm only messing mate. I had a look back at page one on the transfer thread and remembered your valuation back then....I think it's a fair price nowadays....yourself?

good riding there Paul e

you got a new bike with a strong back peddle

Not really, , if people are going to quote me trying to take the piss I just expect them to do it properly.

I forgot, the 0-12m was also if the rumour of El Ghazi being free was true, or we'd have to add another £5m to the price.

Some other player being massively overpriced doesn't make Mings a bargain. Football transfers are a false economy and values are plucked out of thin air sometimes. He's a very good player and I'll be delighted if he signs and will be hoping he stays fit and uninjured.

Here's hoping the positive acquisitions continue over the next two weeks or so.

It's not a false economy, it's the economy in which we operate, and there are very finite resources in terms of players, and almost unlimited resources in terms of buyers' funds.

We've seen that he's a very good player indeed.  It was "only" in the Championship, but Mings' attributes of speed, strength, awareness, timing and skill on the ball aren't going to desert him overnight.  Several of the current England defensive squad, eg Maguire, Trippier, Tarkowski, Keane etc, have all done time in the Championship, and have shown that it's more than possible to then go on and excel in the Premier League.  Injuries aside, I can't see why Mings won't be at least as good as any of them.

Prediction: In 12 months time, we'll have finished in the top 10 of the Premier League, and Mings will be in the squad for the European Championships.  £50 to Acorns if I'm wrong on either point.

but disappointed in this Paul

I was expecting a far longer more detailed retort than the above

Properly...

I'd definitely sign Hause, Mings and El Ghazi, probably £10-12m for the lot is a bargain. Tammy would probably be a bit expensive (and may well not be available anyway given the transfer embargo at Chelsea) and whilst I like Tuanzebe I'm not convinced he's fit enough to play regularly at that level.

Other than that I trust Smith to sign the sort of players I'd want (Guilbert looks the part from what I've seen) and I'd hope he doesn't go mental, 3-4 first team players and 2-3 to develop for a few months is about the most we should be going for this summer because signing 10-12 players and trying to almost create a new team just doesn't work.

Tuscans reply: £10 - £12 miliion for the lot?

I'm pretty sure that alone wouldn't even get Mings.

Isn't needed, it's fairly simple for anyone to find the posts and see for themselves.

I agree with Risso - Mings will have England caps before next season is out.

Go on then. I do think you're wrong but anything for charity. Not sure where you're getting the "only the championship" thing from either, as I didn't say that.

I didn't say you did say that about the Championship, but a few people in other places have and it's the basis of why they think he's overpriced.  And just to make it clear I wasn't asking you to match the bet, it's just what I'm willing to pay should I be wrong.  I'm sure Acorns will be glad of your donation though! ;)

I don’t give a fuck about the cost, it ain’t my money.

All I know is we are about to sign a quality centre half who was a driving force behind us getting promoted and has developed a true affinity with the club, his teammates and the fans.

And we know EXACTLY what we are getting.
No huge money gambles like Hogan or McCormack, but someone who has proved his worth to us.

Welcome back big man.
