Not sure he is really. His last 4 tests against the Aussies last year he got 1/0, 1/0, 1/1, 1/0 in terms of wickets. We definitely need to be moving on.

Yeah I’m not convinced we has fully fit last summer, he bowled better in India. But he’s definitely less of a strike bowler than he was.

I was at Edgbaston today, he looked seriously quick, good to see him back bowling for England.

When Buttler is hitting like this he's truly ridiculous.

If we could somehow keep Wood and Archer fit, i'd feel a lot more confident about our chances in the Ashes

We saw the effect Wood had on the Aussies in last year’s Ashes, but he will be 36 by the time the next Ashes series ends so I think he could make it but at his age it takes longer to recover from injury. Fingers crossed that he stays clear of injury.

As for Archer, who knows? If he stays fit and gets in the test side this year then yes that’s a big plus. If he doesn’t get in the test side I think he will become a white ball mercenary, travelling the world playing franchise cricket.

I’m not entirely sure he will. I’m sure he’ll play plenty of franchise cricket, but he’s got form for being loyal to those who have stuck by him through injury. If he stays fit I can see him playing plenty of cricket for England.

Hope you’re right Paul.

I can’t see Archer playing Test cricket again. T20 and the 100, ok … ODI’s possibly, but 3 spells in a day with the prospect of another the next day … we all know how fragile Englands test batting is … I think he’s going to be managed very carefully and selectively. Although at least he played red ball at the highest level, unlike, say Mills.

The Brydon Carse betting story was kept pretty quiet. 16 month ban, but 13 of those months are suspended. That’s going to knock him down the pecking order.
