I wonder what Smiths mindset is going into this. It could be:
A. We've looked poor on the ball and creatively since Jack got injured. We need an improvement. That might mean a more adventurous formation with a number 10. Especially as Qpr are conceding so few goals
B. Even with poorer perfrormances, we've still scored twice in each of our last two home games. And created a lot of chances in the last two away, relative to performance levels. With say tammy, Kodjia, Albert and hourihane we've enough goal threat to get a couple more. So if we can be better defensively we should win.
I expected Smith would tend to be more in category a. But I suspect its more b today. And perhaps that's right. Is it realistic that a bunch of pretty tired players are going to adjust to a new formation at short notice, and turn in a great free flowing performance whilst keeping it tight at the back despite less midfield cover, no proper left back, and two players coming straight into the defence?
