We dont usually win on boxing day, we dont usually win at Swansea and we dont usually keep clean sheets so ill take that 0-1 all day long.

Massive difference in how we have played pre and post Grealish's injury though. He dictates the way we play and really is that important to us.

Automatic promotion is unlikely. Play-offs still well within our reach.

Nice way to end the year.

If you are going to steal quotes from Shakin' Stevens songs you could at least have the decency to credit him or name check him. ;)

That was mostly a load of shite.  Still, won't sniff at a 1-0 win, but we need too be much, much better than we have been of late.
I will take more shite wins with a clean sheet

Playing shit and winning isn't sustainable though, as the 2 years under Bruce showed. We'll all take the shit 1-0 win today, if we want to be a top flight side next year we'll need to improve on the last few games, which I think we will do.

For those who wanted him dropped.  :-[

With 22 games left you think playoffs will be a struggle....really?

After losing to Millwall we were 3 points off the playoffs, after 12 games under Smith we're still 3 points off. I think we'll make it but I don't think it will be a doddle either.
Yeah but we've had our tricky run now, the bitch it was. We have all the shitties next and now and I just can't see 7 of the 8 above us keeping up the form they've all been on throughout next year. I think we'll smash a few in 19.

Agree we’ve lacked quality and energy. That needs to change, and Whelan does nothing.

To be fair, the last 3 games we've been playing without arguably the most talented player in the league. Fucking Albion wankers.

And there is a big difference between playing well, losing in the game and coming back to draw and win vs playing shit and winning. The former builds immense confidence that no situation is dead until the game is over, and most of the time you are winning those games anyway. The latter as you say has very limited life and always comes to an end with an unfortunate bang.

We need to strengthen, improve and tighten up at the back because as much as I am happy to take 1-0 wins I don't think with our current defence we will be winning too many games by that scoreline.

I don't think Grealish dictates the way we play (Smith does that), what he does is take players away from McGinn, Bolasie etc. Giving them freedom to perform. At the moment everything we do is checked by the opposition, so we struggle to break them down. We need him back.

Today goes to prove that a clean sheet = 3 points as we will score. A few new decent defenders in January and we’ll be fine.

And we get a lot more free kicks with him on on the pitch.
