What was most pleasing today was that, whilst I still don’t think out defence would cope well with sustained pressure, they looked calm & competent when called upon.

It was a really good all round team performance.

Also - watching Dean Smith at the end you could really see home enjoying the moment - as a manager and as a fan.

That was a spanking performance. Tactically perfect.

Third in the league and we went there and dominated.

I'm just so pleased Dean Smith and his coaching team are here now. We literally have nothing to fear.

Bring on Smethwick.

What a fantastic performance from start to finish. What was especially great was that some of the players who are less consistent/effective played very well - Hourihane, El Ghazi, Taylor and Hogan when he came on. Chester back to his best too - noticed how he seemed more intent on attacking the high ball with Tuanzebe sitting in behind to use his pace if needed. Wonder save from Nyland as well.

Well chaps goodnight from me. I’ll catch up on the post match thread in a few hours.

Up the Villa

Sweet dreams!

Are made of this.

Great performance. Big shout out to the defense, a clean sheet after Wednesday, confidence must have been low.

Big shout to El Ghazi also, not many chances so far but I thought he did really well.

Set pieces are quite innovative too. Long gone are the days where it was all about long crosses into the box.

Agreed, we caught them out numerous times today with our varied corners.

They were all great but a special mention for El Ghazi who was not only composed and threatening, he won the ball back a fair few times as well.

Bolasie was good too. We actually protected the back four tonight as well which I think was our downfall on Wednesday. Absolutely buzzing right now.
