From Derby City Fan Forum (Before the game)

A great game to look forward to, two teams who both will try and play football, that's why we will win, 2-0, we are the best footballing team in the football league, also hoping this one sells out, we deserve to be playing in front of a full stadium, this is the best football we have been playing for years, let's all enjoy the ride.

90 mins is a long time in the championship

Lots of empty seats in the Derby areas - must be about 3,000 of them - a lot more on show when the fire alarm went off (when our 3rd went in)

It feels like if we dont go up this season, we will next season with 100 points.

104 points
104? Where the heck are we going to drop 34 points?

And the mind the gap comments coming out of the sty will stop.

Bloody international break is coming at the wrong time for us.

Don’t agree at all my friend. That’s what it was under Bruce. Under Dean Smith the players who will be at the club will learn more. The manager and his staff will watch more film to look for advantages against future opponents. Dean Smith will use the break to advance his education. Steve Bruce used it to eat more kebabs.
Yep completely agree with you TV, Smith and his team will be at work and working all around him. I’m so sure now when we train we are being coached and also learning at the same time. We’re becoming something we’ve all wanted for a long time. A team with identity, a team with a strict approach, a team we’ll enjoy watching. Exciting times ahead.
Bruce's team lacked energy. Another two weeks and the team will be closer to their fitness potential. 20 goal attempts away from home against a team in form. Kodja would never have come off under Bruce as 0-0 away was a great result😂

The main thing about this game, especially playing away, is that once we cranked up the gears we kept on churning through them which if I'm honest was surprising to see. We definitely played with a different mentality throughout and long may it continue.

Kodjia was a lot more active today but good god his finishing was abysmal. He needs a goal or two and fast and there's no better game than the next to come good again.

I've just read their match thread and posts match analysis and to be fair, they called it as it was and overall, pretty complimentary.

Agreed very impressive and realistic thread. I liked this comment:
"Grealish started to run the show and drifted past big Tom whilst he was doing his impression of a shop dummy. We got worse and villa got better and better."

and

"Villa are the most dangerous team in the league. We'll be back to our best next game and we'll square things up with them at Villa Park."

My theory is that once we have a consistent scoring rate, Nyland will be okay. It's the thought of protecting a 0-0 or a one goal lead that makes him nervous.
Nyland was rock solid today, which was one of the biggest positives amongst many.

The great thing was that the team looked relaxed, confident and dynamic, and the Villa crowd really seemed to believe. The noise was deafening at times and the team scintillating.
Awesome.

Outstanding second half and you wonder what Dean said at half time, maybe a stirring talk about rolling your sleeves up? Nah, listen to,his post-match comments, all very tactical, purposeful and decisive.  Loved the fact that I’m stoppage time we had a corner and did we keep it there? Did we fuck!

Been home for about 30 mins, just ordered the takeaway, wife thinks it’s funny that I have such a smile on my face, well I am smiling, glad I could go away with my son & watch Villa play like that. Well done to Villa & Dean & his staff, & some great lads by me for the songs. Excellent day, so happy & a wee bit drunk 🤣🤣

Post match interview https://www.facebook.com/avfcofficial/videos/1934597696849862

What's all this setting traps for the opposition and having game plans? It's witchcraft.

Brilliant performance by Villa and thoroughly deserved.

I've always said that it's results not performances that matter. However, the way we are playing we're getting both!

The tactics and style we're playing is great and so, so overdue.

When was the last time a central midfielder broke into the box and scored a header?

Why did Neil Taylor go off?

'Cos they left him out in the sun too long. Sorry.
