I think "Give it to Jack" was the only tactic Bruce knew.
Yes but for me it was over when he kept shouting that even if Jack was off the field.

At the final whistle I watched Tammy fall to his knees, slam the turf a couple of times, and then double fist pump towards the heavens, and he was last off the pitch applauding the fans.

It was a good effort at making it look like you give a shit who you play for when you're shunted out on loan again, fair play to the lad.

Carlton Cole he aint.

Tammy was really beating himself up about missing those chances too.

I often wish that we had a thumbs up/liked feature on H&V.

It was to be introduced on here but then somebody mentioned Damo.

I am pleased that Tammy was "beating" himself over missed opportunities as he certainly was very wasteful. Other than the two misses in the second half he had 2 or 3 nearly chances in the first half as well. Also a couple of times a better pass from him would have resulted in a goal.

Forgot Abraham actually played for Swansea, law of the ex and all that.

The 11 wasn't that much different to what SB was selecting, AEM still playing in midfield, just one out and out wide player so just interesting if we were on the front foot much more today in terms of tempo and pace?

Good win anyway against a team that recently drew 0-0 at Boro and won 2-1 at Sheff United, the current top 2.

I think for the first time down here we're really seeing how competitive this division can be. A 7 point gap between 1st to us in the bottom half is quite incredible given we're nearly a third of the way through the season.

I'd safely say it will be less points to get promoted in 2nd this season than last given how bunched up everyone is. Key now we can string a few wins together as that will do wonders for our prospects before the tough December run.

We'll be fully cooking on gas come December, those supposedly tricky teams will be lining up to take the beatings we will hand out.

And they will be grateful for it.

I was very pleased with the subtle improvement today, the atmosphere, positivity and the after taste the victory left must have left every Villa fan hungry for more servings.

The negatives

Movement in the middle third is a problem, but it's not going to come over night.

Last 10 we looked a wee bit tired.

The positives

The transition in the final third was a lot quicker; generally the build up play from the back was usual speed, but we seemed quicker to commit men forward and move the game on.

Creating a number of chances; we have in the past dominated games, especially second halves, but seem to operate against a bow shaped force field around the opposition box. We therefore have more huffed and puffed without ever really creating clear cut chances.

Today I felt we created several clear cut chances, 3 absolute gilt edged sitters. That's very pleasing against a decent Swansea side.

We came out 2nd half on the front foot.

We made positive changes

We kept a clean sheet

Nyland made two excellent saves.

All in all, very positive. Swansea came into it more when they brought the sub winger on and had the right footer swap on to the left where he cut inside the space between Hutton and the centre half more. But we limited them to a few chances and created far more clear cut ones ourselves.

One thing puzzles me we were sold out and previous seasons in Premier League sold out was around 42,500 so what's happened?

Some seats in the away end were kept empty for segregation, maybe that's part of it?

Probably for the best too - one Swansea fan got kicked out (and possibly arrested) for throwing racist slurs at our fans
