Claret membership
« on: September 06, 2018, 09:26:35 AM »
Has anybody else joined up to the Claret Membership?  I did, more out of curiosity than anything, and it seems quite good to be fair.  You get a contactless membership card that you can add money to, and spend in the stadium and online, for which you get points for every transaction.  You can then use the points on rewards and auctions etc.  If you're into buying general Luke clobber (which I'm not) then you get 1 point for every £1 you spend in their shops or online.  Oh and you get a nice pin badge and window sticker, which is probably the first such thing I've received since I was in the Tuft Club 40 years ago.  And £10 off a match ticket.

It all seems quite slick and perhaps the first inkling that things are taking shape off the pitch at least.

Not sure to be honest, as I don't have a season ticket.  It looks like one of the new strategies that Luke Organ was talking about in that recent interview he did.

I was looking at this earlier too. This might be a silly question, but I'm already a member of one of the 'Lions' Supporters club, that are now affiliated to Villa. Is there any need to have a 'Claret Membership' as well...?

This seems to explain it better.

I think if you're a season ticket holder or Lions Club member, you're enrolled already.  The Claret Membership is then presumably more for fans like me who aren't in either of those two categories.

I became a claret member this year as well as signing my kids up to the cubs.  The rewards system seems quite good and the kids get 4 free tickets each for a £20 fee.  Very good indeed.

You get £10 of one match of your choice?

My daughter is in the Villa Cubs, it’s really good, £20 and she gets a membership pack, a backpack, she’s put into a draw to be a mascot, a few badges and 4 free tickets.

It’s great, apart from the backpacks haven’t turned up in time for the turn to school, but that a minor quibble against a good scheme to get the kids interested.

Yep.  Discount is automatically applied when you buy online.

I'm both a Lions Club and Claret member. The benefit of the Lions Club is definitely more for away ticket access, and the Holte pub access for homes.
I got the Claret membership for priority access to tickets – mainly the homes to be honest. Coming up from London I have to pick and choose games, so it's useful to have a greater choice of seats – so that I can sit next to mates who are season ticket holders, or book two or three seats together in better blocks.

My only gripe is that the Claret member pack encourages you to check in at the Holte Suite for extra Pride points, but that space is actually only for season ticket holders.

It's a good scheme but they don't send you your pack for ages. My lad's hadn't arrived after 5 weeks. I rang to ask where it was and they basically said, 'dunno, it takes about a month.' Only after a bit of moaning from me and a conversation with her boss was the lady able to get the pack sent out. It took another week! If I hadn't moaned, I don't know how long it would have taken.
