I completely agree that he seems like a nice kid.

He seems to me to be the epitome of a ‘confidence’ player.
What he needs to to do is believe in himself as a premier league player and is good enough to be one. I’m not sure he always thinks that way.

I forget how young he is.  There's still a lot of scope for improvement in both ability and attitude at his age.

My biggest concern with him last year was that he didn't hit the target enough, it was about 40% last season but this year he's up to over 60% and it's making a huge difference to how effective he is. I suspect that's a result of work in training because he does seem to be a lot more composed now. It's the little changes like that that I think Smith and co deserve huge credit for.

He confuses the hell out of me, as does Trez.
How old is he?

What struck me was the effort he put in all match until subbed, if he did that every game he would be an asset but too many times he seems to drift through games.

Indeed, he's normally like the shopkeeper in Mr Ben; he does a bit of magic then disappears for the rest of the programme. If he can maintain his current effort and form I'd keep him around next season but I'd still love us to sign a proper winger in the summer. I would hope it's top of Dean's shopping list.

He strikes me as the sort of footballer who thrives on confidence. I don't mean so much the confidence you get in a run of form over a few games, I mean the confidence you get IN a game.  If you look back at his better games, they all start with him doing something pretty good in the first few minutes.  If his first few involvements are below par, I worry about the next 80 minutes.

Clearly he's got the ability to be a decent squad asset for a premier league team challenging in the top half, and with a bit more consistency he could have a decent career here.  But without that consistency, I fear we'll be looking to more consistent players capable of giving 7/8 out of 10 every week.  They might not be technically any better, just able to reproduce week in week out.

Hard to place what his market value is....£7m or £25m or anything in between?!

In between....his numbers are decent this season. As often commented on here, if he could match the graft of Trez there wouldn't be a debate as to who was the better player. His corners and set pieces were decent the last day out too. I suspected he would always struggle against the better full backs but Ayling has been having a very good season and he well and truly got the better of him.

For a guy with his frame, he should be better able to protect the ball. Sometimes he offers bambi like resistance.

I thought he was our worst player last night and responsible for giving the ball away that led to the equaliser.

Probably the most frustrating player in the squad given talent to output.

He reminds me of Tommy Johnson- a real confidence player.

If he does something good in the first 15 minutes, watch out!

Otherwise...

In case anyone is interested here's a few stats.

AEG's goal at Chelsea got us a point. His goal at Wolves in extra time got us 3 points, and his goal against Leeds also got us the 3 points. He's scored 7 goals this season like Jack and got us 7 points with 3 of them. His minute's per goal is 176. Bettered only by Barry who scored 1 in 90 min.

Question is. Is that a bad return?

I guess, as a winger, it depends on the assists stats.

Anwar is a useful squad player. When in form he’s very handy, but when out of form he struggles to be effective.
