Rather than being inconsistent, I wonder whether it's more the case that it takes him a game or two when he comes back into the starting line-up to get into form.

Always rated El Ghazi, but he needs to cut out the stinkers and find some consistency.

I'll be happy if at the end of the season I can look back at our squad and give them all a rating of about 7½. With a hardworking midfielder, you'd probably prefer them getting that kind of score game in, game out. I can more than live with my wingers and suchlike getting that from a mix of 9s and 6s. He was great yesterday, looked like he could beat them on his own in that first half an hour. A real joy to watch when he's proper on it.

Other than 45 minutes against West Ham with some mitigating circumstances, when has he had a stinker this season?

He wasn't that bad. First game back again an'all.

He clearly has ability so it’s all in his head.  He can vere from Ronaldo to a poor pub player. Dean obviously doesn’t think he merits a regular start so he’s still on a knife edge if you ask me

I think he's better when we're setting up to counter than when we have more ball and onus to break teams down, when he gets a head of steam up and bit of space to play in he comes alive, and he's got really good instincts in and around the 6 yard box.

Great guy, with a brilliant attitude . Barkley could learn a thing or two from AEG

Glad AEG seems to have turned things around especially after the pelters he got off a section of fans last season.

Played a part in our goal, too. Nice little headed return to Targett.

No personal stuff from me and it's just my opinion but I think we would be unwise to write Barkley off. What he adds to Jack's game and what Jack adds to his when their partnership works is not inconsiderable. Their link up play has been magical at times. We should aim to get that back.

An impact Barkley might is players like AEG working hard to stay in the team.
