I love players that widen your eyes and quicken your pulse when they get on the ball, make you mutter the words "go on, son", and he certainly did that to me back then.

Agree on the first two points (oh the memories - deserves its' own thread) but not the third. Even at his best he was a 5 - 10 minute player. I'm still not convinced he's a winger and a midfielder with his work ethic he most certainly isn't. I think Dean has got it right, give him 10-15 minutes off the bench and see what happens. Same with Traore.

Pleased for Anwar. He’s dug in, kept going,  and now he’s getting rewards.

Has always had the talent. Let's see how he does against better opposition than the last two games but great to have him as a real option again. Bad time for Trez to pick up an injury.

Really pleased for him.  If he could shoot from distance, whilst on the move, he’s be a helluva player.

I know it shouldn’t be important but i love it when we extract every ounce of ability/value out off a player rather than just let them drift by signing more and more replacements.

It’s his attitude that has got him here. Just like Trez before he got hurt. AEG took a lot of grief last season, that miss at Everton and no doubt after Burnley. But he’s remained positive, has numerous positive influences around him and through hard work and now good displays deserves his chance to stay in the team. It’s great that even when not playing our players seem to remain a cohesive and motivated unit.

Yep, agree with that. It's been great to see AEG, Traore and Trez step their games up and make it feel like we've got a decent sized squad with competition for places.

My only criticism of AEG is that he can be a bit too shot happy at times.

I get the impression he's been told to cut in and shoot as much as possible, because Jack gets so much attention and he'll likely find a bit more space. They clearly rate his finishing ability in training and he's just coming into the right age now. A bit of confidence and he could really kick on.

He needs to keep his shots lower. I have noticed that a lot of shots from AEG are towards the top corner and therefore easier for the keeper to save. If he kept more shots low he would score more. The chance for the hattrick goal the other day is a classic example.

Still saying that, I am very pleased with the effort he is putting in and loves his penalties.

I think if we can somehow join up best bits of Anwar, Trez and Bertrand we will have a world class player.

I'm a sucker for seeing the best in our flock.  After his input in getting us back to the Prem I am so glad that he is having some influence still.  All competition is good and we've lacked of that up front for far too long.  The boy has shown balls in his perfromances and I respect him for taking the chance, some would have sulked it out (N'Zogbia anyone?).

He's the absolute polar opposite of N'Zogbia.  Probably not as naturally talented but 100 times more dedicated to his career.
