We'e got a club chaplain. Can't we get a club iman to tell them Allah says it's okay?

So I am not aware of our Artician friends struggle but I have lived in Gothenburg and can tell you what happens there. In June for example sun typically sets close to 12.00 midnight.  They  follow two  paths. One is as described by CD above. Second one followed by holier than though brigade is to drink and eat once a day  in that very small gap at midnight after sunsets and before it rises. 21/22 June you have to be quick :). They also have great difficulty with prayer timetables but I will leave that for a discussion on another day.

Grrrrr, religious sky fairy nonsense.....

Not massively thoughtful Risso. Obviously I think about this stuff as it’s my job to, but have you ever (had the chance to) ask/ed someone why they fast?

If it was an away fixture further away the travel exemption also might come into play but enemy lines are pretty close to home in this case. Thanks for sharing the work citation Aftab.

Has anyone ever had any contact with the club’s Chaplains Revs Philip Nott & Ken Baker?

This sort of thread always makes me think of the Billy Bragg song, God's Footballer, inspired by Wolves’ Peter Knowles.

Only the Christian guys as far as I know. Personally I think they need a Buddhist one who could teach the players meditation and keep an eye on mental health issues. Just saying like.

I do have an Imam that works for me who’s very understanding ;)

Actually I saw a car parked on the way to the ground recently with an ?Oxfordshire NHS Chaplaincy parking pass in the window. Presuming s/he wasn’t Milwall, would appreciate some networking with fellow Villa Chaplain if anybody knows who that is?

There is a well known saying that loses some impact in translation that sort of says "Where there is a will you will find an Imam who will". There are enough Imams around Aston so I am sure the Club can find one who can "correctly" guide the players ;)

Surely it’s the same for Hegazi for the baggies?  He played okay yesterday.

Is it connected to sleep? Smith mentioned we'd been  monitoring his sleep.

I'm not a fan of any organised religion to be honest.  But yes, I'm aware of what fasting is based on.  I did it for a day with a friend on the IOM once, then went along for the post-fasting scran, which was great, although disappointingly lacking in beer to wash it down! ;)

It has fantastic marketing potential in the wider dieting market, what with the fasting diet fads. A monthly fast and then a curry blow out.

Fasting results in disturbed sleep. Pattern is you break fast at around 9PM. Dinner will take around 45 minutes. After that you will either relax at home or go to the mosque for an elongated prayer. This will finish around midnight. Return home and go to sleep but wake up at 3AM for breakfast. This is your meal to start fast for next day. Post that you may go back to bed or do other things till your work day starts. So ensuring a players sleeps adequately is a must I would think.
