Apologies if this is covered elsewhere.

The BBC Match Report clearly states that El Ghazi was mistakenly sent off against Leeds today and that he never touched Bamford, who then simulated injury.

More than reasonable grounds for an appeal I would think ?

If the simulation by Bamford is proven, can retrospective action be taken against him ?

Bamford was yellow carded which unfortunately - due to the FA's positively ridiculous rules - means he can't have a ban instated.

El Ghazi's card will be overturned or Villa will kick up stink. All news sources have reported it as unjust, as did the commentators at the time.

Bamford wasn't booked for simulation otherwise El Ghazi wouldn't have been sent off. As the ref didn't see that, it can be punished retrospectively. Whether it will be is another matter.

That red card has to be rescinded. If it isn't, would it be a 1 or 3 game ban?

3 match ban so would be out of both WBA games.

Hopefully we'll get it rescinded as he would be a big miss.

Dirt f***ing Leeds!

Three for violent conduct leading to a straight red.  One when it's a red for two yellows.

Its going to be rescinded.

The only way it won't is if the EFL decide trying to extricate yourself from a stranglehold is worthy of being sent off.

Not for simulation, no, but for his involvement in the fracas. Based on prior I would fully expect the EFL to rule that his conduct was dealt with in the whole, whether we agree or not

Change some of these stupid rules. Punishment should be handed out if it’s not seen at the time.

ATAL, sorry mate but that's nonsense.  That'll be overturned straight away.  You can't be red carded for "involvement in a fracas" else there'd have been nobody at all left on the pitch.  Bamford conned the officials, which was what led directly to El Ghazi being sent off.  Once it's reviewed, the red card will be rescinded.  In addition, Bamford will be charged, as the FA clearly has the power, thus:

"Where there is clear and overwhelming evidence to suggest a match official has been deceived by an act of simulation, and as a direct result, the offending player’s team has been awarded a penalty and/or an opposing player has been dismissed, The FA will be able to act retrospectively under its Fast Track system. In accepted and/or proven cases of simulation and/or feigning injury, the offending player would receive a two-match suspension."

So Bamford will probably miss their last league match and first play off game.

Wasn't aware of the two game suspension clause.

We'll see though. I have no faith at all in the FA. And in any case, as noted elsewhere, if they were to review the whole thing and start meting out punishments, there's every chance one or two of our own could be handed bans for other bits and pieces during the barmy.

Two games only? They should up that. It should be two games for being a c**t and whatever our players suspension would’ve been. Plus make Leeds play with ten men for fifteen minutes.

Agree with your assessment of Elland Road. I was shocked at my first game, it’s almost non league, apart from the main stand - must be twenty years since I’ve been too.
