I am surprised Lille let him go out on loan. He played 39 games for them last season.

Jorge Mendes intervention.

Bruce was talking about anwar saying stuff but this was a Mendes offering rather than a Bruce move was it not?

He fits profile of what needed and then owners got Mendes on case and came up with this transfer .

Think Bruce won't mind this move but the portugeezer resrve gk could be another story

I don't know much about him, but a 24 year old on the fringes of the Dutch squad, having played for a Ligue 1 side for practically the entire season (albeit a struggling one with financial issues) doesn't leap out as the sort of ordinary signing a Championship club could make.

He seems a decent size as well, particularly for a winger (?).

My tribe and I frequently visit Majestic Wine in Coquelles, Calais.  The lads there are mad Lille fans.  I will sound them out.  They were spot on about Ayew, Veretout and Garde.

Adaptable twice-capped Netherlands international El Ghazi can also play at left-back and in the centre of defence

Taken from the BBC website. So that's the CB problem solved then....

He can’t be worse than Jedinak.

There's no way he can play at centre back

He looks a big lad, tall.  I hope he's as good as Bruce says he is.  Did we get the clearance to play him tomorrow?  I can't find anything that we did.

As of this morning we were still waiting for confirmation his international clearance had come through.
