We still can’t seem to pass a ball, yet the plan is clearly to play through Jack.  McGuinn looks like he could connect with Jack but the rest haven’t got a scooby.  And as for the defence, they can neither defend nor have the ability to play the ball out.  I really hope we get a new left back and CH in on loan or I think we will struggle to stay with the leaders

There's nothing quite like a last minute winner in front of the Holte. Terrific noise, and four minutes into added time - serves their 'keeper right for wasting so much time. Thought Wigan played quite well and moved the ball quickly, whereas we seemed a bit disjointed with a lot of sloppy passing, but two wins and six goals, coming from behind (no sniggering at the back) both times when you're not playing brilliantly can't be sniffed at.

Early days, but I'm not convinced by our new 'keeper, Jedi isn't a centre back, Tuanzebe seems inconsistent, and Kodjia should have got the hook earlier. On the other hand Jack was Jack - sublime movement with the ball accompanied by the usual bruise count - and McGinn looks like a real find. If we could get a couple of decent loans at centre back and striker I think we could really do something this season. Over to you Mr Bruce

left back centre back striker and winger would be even better.

I understand he was playing out of position but Tuanzebe was awful.

The win was great and there are plenty of positives to take but we don't really have a discernible style of play, we just seem to hope something happens.

Kodjia was awful, he seems to be less keen to pass the ball as he goes longer without a goal.

We really do lack pace, that is our biggest weakness

McGinn looked quality and Grealish is the best player in this league by an absolute mile.

Massive result, didn't really deserve it but they all count. Played two, won two.

Chester first scorer each way at 20/1. Nice.

Forgive my ignorance but how did you have this each way ? My missus wanted me to put a fiver on Chester anytime at 7-1 - told her I had and am now £40 out of pocket ! Don’t care as we won but wasn’t happy at 2-2

I said this earlier, I just can't ever see any pattern or plan to what we do. It makes me wonder how the hell new players are introduced to the side - presumably 'just hang around somewhere there and if you get the ball pass it to one of ours'. If we had a certain way of playing it'd be easy to slot someone into a particular role and they'd know what was expected of them. Instead it all looks so random and hinges far too much on Jack's brilliance.

That defence was woeful today.  Tuanzebe was cack, and Jedi slow and pedestrian, with that utterly cretinous back pass to ruin Nyland's debut.  Needs sorting ASAP.  As does the striking situation.

Just got back in after being at the game earlier.  Good to get the win, but there were some real concerns.  I suppose he has to be given the benefit of the doubt seeing as it was his debut, but the goalkeeper looked very shaky.  Him and Jedinak hesitated and he nearly got a kick blocked down early on and then those pair combined again for a calamitous first goal.  I lost count of the number of times he kicked the ball out of play and he got nowhere near a high ball that came into the box in the second half.  As I said, hopefully just first game nerves an we will see an improvement.

Jedinak had a really sloppy game at centre half and we desperately need to bring in a first choice player in that position.  I thought Tuanzebe did OK, but like last season looked a bit clumsy in possession at times.  McGinn had a couple of loose touches here and there, but worked hard and delivered some excellent set pieces.  I still think Green is more effective coming on in the latter stages and although Kodjia put himself about a bit more than Monday night, he was still pretty ineffective.  Bringing in a striker is another priority before the end of the window.

Thought the referee was garbage today and stopped the game far too often.

It sounds like a typical Bruce Villa display, a decent result but unconvincing,  no discernable style of play and a tendency to shoot ourselves in the foot.  Take an early lead then shit the bed.  The problem is we won't always get away with it and it's what cost us last season.  Doesn't really matter who we get in on loan, we'll still have Bruce in charge.   I suppose worst case for us is that we are "thereabouts" which makes him hard to fire, but not quite "there", like last year, which means ultimate failure.  It's frustrating.

Skybet offer first scorers each way (ie first scorer plus any time scorer). I've only just noticed that today myself, so it may be new.
