Nail on head Mr Underhill.  The clue is in the name of this superbly provocative and life enhancing forum.  We must have our Heroes and our Villains.  Bryan-Unsworth has been duly inducted into the illustrious Hall of Infamy standing beside Stas, Tonev, Downing, Richards, Lescott, Westwood, Gardner, Hodge, Ireland and all the rest whose Villainy make our Heoroes shine so much brighter.

I'm not sure that Tonev and Westwood belong on that list. They were just a bit inept and comical at times

Agreed, nothing wrong with their attitude, they just wasn't good enough.

Stas doesn't belong on there either. It's not his fault he was injured. And he did at least score for us.

The subtle point I was trying to make and obviously failing, was that all of the Villains to a greater or lesser degree do not deserve the roles in which they have been cast.  All were part of the giant everlasting folklore of football we/I use to make our lives more exciting and colourful.  I do not hate Ivo Stas and the others I list though Steve Hodge could have a question mark against his name.

Can't really blame him for going to Fulham over us.  Signing with Villa now is more of a gamble than it was 12 months ago.   We've dropped down the packing order a bit now.  With Fulham its a free hit.  Even if they go down he probably wouldn't get the blame for it and with a decent season could attract another top flight club or at least a strong Championship one.  Blow for us though think we could use a bit more depth at the back.

Bit harsh for Westwood (and even Tonev) to be in the same company as those players. They just weren't good enough at the time they were in and around our team.

I don't see why City and their fans are so delighted that he snubbed us? - didn't Bryan just leave them?

Isn't Bristol on the outskirts of Greater Birmingham?

Therefore they have the same issues with us that our poor inner city neighbours have?

Bristol City seem to have followed the Newcastle route of inventing a rivalry which only exists to them.

Bristol City seem to have followed the Newcastle/Coventry/Wolves/Leicester route of inventing a rivalry which only exists to them.

A more realistic alteration.

From what Bruce said, he was offered loads more money and he did hang around and think about it first before making his decision. Fulham apparently missed out on their first choice.
I think after hearing we'd had Juninho at the ground only to fail to come to an agreement and sign him about 20 years ago, this one seems a bit silly to get upset about in comparison. There were pictures of Juninho and his dad getting out of a car outside the ground and everything, I was gutted about that one as he's just the sort of player I'd have loved to watch every week.

Can’t blame the lad and Bruce said he hesitated briefly, it’s fookin Fulham I’m unhappy with the shisters.  Oh well let them have their day in the sun. I dread to think what would have happened to their squad had they not gone up. Put it this way I very much they would be challenging again this year

Didn’t the Bristol manager get his arse in his hand when we thumped them 5-0 over Christmas and serenaded them with the obligatory big day our chants?

Maybe they can join the Geordies and form a precious collective??

I was in China for 2009-2012 but didn't we invent the Newcastle rivalry with the banners?

Bruce said we were only 15 minutes away from signing Joe Bryan. That was the time difference between returning from the medical at the hospital to Bodymoor Heath. During that journey Bryan's agent took a call from Fulham......and that scuppered our bid. 15 minutes!!
