Did McGinn play in Greece? Spurs are a library compared to Olympiakos. C'mon John - between that and your arse-move not working today, you've had a mare, lad.

Add in legia, AZ and lille too!

But talking about noise. Come off it john you played in noiser derbies vs blose too.

It got fairly loud after their 3rd but for a 60k+ stadium it was pretty benign for most of the match and I include us lot in that as well, it was a pretty subdued away end even before they went 3-1 up.

All the singing appeared to happen before kick off underneath, which was incredibly raucous.

Im abit concened how below par he has been in recent games. Think he needs ro play mcginn more central . He doesnt seem very good in this position unais adopted him today
Scotland play him as a RMF, cutting in with the ball and covering his RB without it.

I was in the Spurs end yesterday (my father is a Tottenham supporting member), and I thought both the home and away ends were incredibly quiet for most of the match. Spurs fans obviously perked up when they started winning, but even then it wasn't exactly Bayern Munich at home.

Feel a bit sorry for JM, always being used to fill a hole, yesterday he was played as a defensive winger.

Feel like he's out of position again , Emery needs to realise where he is a key asset

I suspect Emery wants SJM’s personality in the team.

He’s not a RW/RM because he can only cut inside.  Compounded because we also have the same on the left with Ramsey., The opposition can rest safe that as soon as we get the ball wide we will never put the after-burners on and attack the byline.  That makes defending against us too easy.

It’s why I’d select Maatsen, we need a player that wants to attack behind the lines and stretch their defence.

He played his absolute best stuff coming off the right, and a lot of his worst stuff last season came back in the centre. It's not the position, he's just out of form.

The best football we’ve played for donkeys years was the first 5/6 months of last season

Our midfield was Kamara- Luiz- McGinn this has never been bettered as yet by any other combination, that midfield trio was absolute class and probably the best for me since Mortimer- Cowans- Bremner

With Kamara coming back 2 of those players are still here so hopefully we’ll find some combinations that are just as effective

Agreed most of his best performances for Villa have come in that position. Wasn't it Dan Burn he 'burned' one day in particular at Villa Park. On Sunday, Cash was obviously under instructions to hold his position and McGinn does need an overlapping full back to be at his best coming in. I didn't think he was that bad anyway but should have got tighter to Son for the cross.

We still have very little cover for McGinn and Ramsey in that formation. Bailey did great last season obviously and will hopefully come into form again. But think we are light there.

I thought he did ok, particularly first half.  At least, I dont think he was any worse than anyone else.

He played on the right in the narrow box midfield we used a lot in 2023. He was supported by an overlapping Cash and an on-form Bailey.

He just looks a yard off the pace at the moment. Age or more likely the amount of football he has played in the last couple of years is having an impact.
