My MOTM, he is the driving force of this team.
Can any one think of a player you would swap him for right now?
No nor me.

There are a couple of midfielders doing as well as he is, in Kamara and Luiz, but well bugger me, they're ours as well.
Tielmens didn’t look too shabby last night either.

I just wish we could clone him.  If every Villa team for the next thousand years had a meatball running round causing havoc, every other fucker might as well just give up.

I like the way he positions himself "offside" when we have free kicks close to their goal,  it definitely distracts the keeper and other defenders, not knowing where he will go or do.
When he was distracting Ederson and Konsa's header went over, he had moved away and was completely unmarked towards the back post when the ball was played in.

Last night SJM also had the Ref puzzled when he was dancing in front of Ederson.

Looked as if the Ref was looking for a reason to move SJM out of the way, then realised that there wasn't one.

I can’t quite put my finger on what it is about McGinn. And then I realised along with Tyrone he’s the bloodline and the beating heart of the past 6 to 7 years. Signed by Bruce in the Championship, developed by Smith, misused by Gerrard and now being taken to amazing levels by Emery.

I was one of those thinking he couldn’t improve and that he’d reached his ceiling but his performance last night was little short of exceptional.

Ran his socks off like a man possessed last night. Made me recall a great saying by one of this parish that his running style is akin to the first few yards having jumped from a helicopter.

I was just looking through some videos on YouTube from the game and one kid was filming him during that and it's so funny to watch. He's doing star jumps and everything in front of Ederson.

He reminds me of the Loony Tunes Tasmanian Devil, a whir of dust, him and three opponents and then there he is with the ball at his feet.

Tielemans isn't far behind in the last month and JJ coming back will get there as well. Add Bailey given he's often playing in a 4 and we have 6 players across the midfield who are all good enough to make us title challengers in my opinion. If we can keep this up into January and then add a little depth I think most of the league will be very nervous of us, it's insane to think that we are genuinely only 3-4 players away from having a champions league level squad.

I thought Mings was the perfect captain of the club. And he still would be. But John McGinn has grown into the role and responsibility. Not only has his performances been sensational but he’s really taken the duty of captain to another level.

Unai Emery: "They are very good players and when I arrived here they were very good. But sometimes you need a comfortable atmosphere. John McGinn is the example of it. He's a fantastic man and captain. On the pitch he is smiling but he is also so responsible."

😂

We did it against Legia Warsaw too and there does seem to be some merit for doing it.

At the final whistle he collapsed in a heap totally exhausted - one of the most incredible performances i have ever seen
