I can't see is being able to keep him, he is a good player. Granted, he's gone off the boil a bit after the bad injury

I don’t, I think he’d be off in a heartbeat. Same with Mings.

As poor as he’s been, at least McGinn doesn’t make it quite so obvious that he’s already gone, unlike Mings.

He's clearly nowhere near fit. He looks like he's carrying a shed load of extra weight.

How that is allowed to happen by either him or our fitness people or both is beyond me.

He's out of sorts.

Not the first player to come back from a serious injury and look like he's lost something, Kodj was never the same after his two injuries in 2017.

Partly why I'm uncomfortable with some hyping up Wes to be a saviour for us in the championship when it will probably take him 2-3 months to just back into things given he's had a serious injury.

Still keep him here and hopefully he gets going again in the championship as we know he's pretty good in that division.

I'd agree. I just wonder whether he wasn't really anywhere near as ready as we thought he'd be and as such he's struggling to keep up now. He doesn't strike me as being an unprofessional type?

He signed a new 4 year deal in August so we'd want a 25m fee. I really can't anyone paying that given what he's shown since injury. I think most clubs would wait until he gets back into his stride in championship.

He was good at the start of the season. Bursting into the box and scoring v Spurs, Arsenal and Burnley. Also set up the AEG goal v Everton with a nice run. Looks miles away from that level now.

I keep thinking of this:

He's either criminally out of shape or he's phoning it in. Or both. No wonder Luiz was pissed off.

That clip is just unnaceptable. Im presuming (and fucking hoping) that its just down to him being unfit and brought back too soon. Even that theory comes with downsides towards the management though.

Not giving him a pass at all but I do wonder if McGinn was just rushed back and he just never was able to get properly fit again because of the injury. He's been a huge disappointment but he's also never struck me, any of us, or Hibs fans as the kind of player to just coast or give up. There is something else at play that's led to the version we are seeing right now.

The state on him is shocking but I blame the management more than the player.

Lest we forget, Drinkwater was brought in as a like for like replacement on the safe assumption that SJM might be out for virtually the whole season.

He was clearly less match fit than the rest of the players, joining mid season. That factor should have been removed, since none of them are now match fit, and we should have got him in good shape to be a useful resource for us. Instead Dean is giving it the hard man act and not even putting him on the bench, while moaning about 5 subs and playing a fat John McGinn. It’s the kind of rank amateur, cut your nose off to spite your face shite that took us down the first time.

You can’t blame the management for a professional footballer letting himself go and becoming a lard arse.  You can blame them for thinking it’s a good idea to bring him into vital PL games looking like said lard arse.

What's the betting McGinn is in the starting eleven today? Love him as a player when he's on song, but nobody should be untouchable.
The shape he's returned in post-lockdown, and the effort he's putting into matches (Liverpool aside - Thought he played quite well in that game), he should be nowhere near the matchday squad - Especially after that showing against Man Utd.

It was reported that he was carrying an injury before the major one and yet he was kept in the team. He’s not been managed at all well this season

He’ll be off I’d imagine to Leicester. Rodgers was desperate for him at Celtic and I think he’d be perfect for a club like Leicester with European football. Wouldn’t even need to move house. Championship with Villa or Champions League with Leicester? Not a tough decision is it really.
