How many people on here, WITHOUT the 20:20 hindsight, wanted McGinn left out yesterday? Where were the posts on the pre-match thread to that effect?
To be fair, people have been saying he should have been rested weeks ago.

Very unfortunate for McGinn and Villa, but that was a challenge that he didn't need to make. He seemed riled up by not getting a foul moments earlier.

Sadly, that's exactly what I thought the instant he made the challenge.  He'll be missed though, for sure.

Was expecting it to be much worse, possibly an ACL and out for 6-8 months. Similar injury to what Okore got all those years back.

Good it's possible he'll still be able to play a part in the run in but important we don't hype him up to be a saviour when he returns, probably won't fully get back up to speed until August in any case.

Yes. It's not hindsight at all. Go back a few pages in this very thread, 'itmustbe'.

Not necessarily in the minority. "Smith out" is just noisier . H and V isn't necessarily reflective of the Villa support as a whole.
FWIW I agree with you.

Blaming Smith for McGinn's injury is like blaming Bernard Matthews for your turkey being overcooked.

That logic doesn't even nearly follow. Stupid analogy.

I didn’t want him rested he’s one of our best players, even when not and firing on all cylinders.

a few months ago I'd have been devastated by this injury - but at the moment I'm not, and I really don't know why.

Kind of know what you mean. Of all our players, he looked to have taken to the prem most quickly and effectively and by his own standards has been disappointing since September. Hard to know of it’s injury related or our failure to get the best out of him. Suspect the latter has played a part when you look at his form for Scotland.

It’s not really getting the best out of many of our players at the moment.

Considering we had the luxury of getting promoted with two players who were immediately talked up as 50m + targets for manu, we’ve done quite well to play them both out of position and reduce their threat to the opposition.
