I am not expecting them to come out and tell us precisely what the financial situation is, and I am not a fan of the saying something for the sake of it thing, but what would inspire a bit of confidence right now would be for something to be said about who is running the club, because just now it all looks like a knackered old trawler heading straight for the rocks.

Very interesting reading that again and well worth bumping.  As an aside, two things sprang to mind, firstly: there is a post on there from The Laughing Policeman which reminded me that I haven't seen him posting for a while.  I hope he is ok, anyone know?

Secondly: Seeing as the trawler was built in Middlesborough maybe we might cut them some slack when taking the piss.  May I suggest a fortnight?

I saw he turned down 30 mill from American group for 30% of the club - that would have only kept us a float for 6 mths I suppose

Surely there must be something more interesting going on if he turned that sort of money down?  Is the man a complete tool? Unless something behind the deal wasn't right.

I’m increasingly coming round to the ‘the man is a complete tool’ point of view personally.

Not sure if this has been picked up earlier, but the Express and Star are reporting that Tone has been 'publicly rebuked' by the Shanghai stock exchange for allegedly concealing information while chairman of Lotus Health , one of his former vast array of stellar performing global powerhouses. According to the report this public shaming will make it even more difficult to persuade Chinese investors to join him in investing in the best business opportunity since , er, Delboy's cushy Peckham Spring Water. Surely the bell tolls for our Tone , but as long as he persists in the delusion that he can cling on to a controlling interest and thrashes around desperately trying to defy the financial ,commercial and footballing laws of gravity, the greater the risk that he will drag our beloved club down in flames with him. Please Tone , accept the inevitable and give us a chance of survival.

The Mirror...where else...

Aston Villa owner Dr Tony Xia stuns club officials by claiming he does not want to sell to Americans

Villa are in financial crisis and Xia is looking for either new investment or owners to take the club forward

Aston Villa's Chinese owner Dr Tony Xia has stunned club officials by admitting he doesn't want to sell to Americans.

Championship Villa are in financial crisis after missing out on promotion to the Premier League in the play-off final.

Xia is now trying to sell a stake in the club to bring in vital investment or potentially even sell up outright.

An American group are interested and are believed to have visited Villa Park for talks.

The deal has been teed up by members of Villa's UK-based hierarchy but China-based Xia has so far been unwilling to sanction it.

His reluctance to personally deal with Americans reflects international tensions between the two superpowers.

US president Donald Trump has imposed taxes on imports from China - sparking fears of an all-out trade war.

The first tariffs are due to come into effect this month to protect US jobs as part of his 'America first' policy.

Now incredibly the repercussions of tensions between the two nations has stretched as far as Villa Park.

It is another headache for the staff on the ground at Villa Park, where chief executive Keith Wyness has left and is suing for constructive dismissal.

In Wyness' absence, chief commercial officer Luke Organ, finance director Ian Hopson, lawyer Victoria Wilkes and Xia’s executive assistant, Rongtian He, are running things.

He ,29, reports back to Xia and disseminates his instructions to staff including Villa boss Steve Bruce and director of football Steve Round with the first team squad due back on Wednesday for pre-season.

He's refusing to sell to American's because of Trump's tariff policy? That's sounds ludicrous even by James Nursey's standards.

'Ludicrous' is becoming par for the course here.

If we were Man Utd or someone else fashionable, do you reckon our Government would intervene if this is true?
