I see the heat's well and truly got to Alf. Anyway the one sign I want from any new owner is common sense - and that includes the only sensible thing Tony ever did which was turning up to BH in a taxi. Prudence. No flashy suits or motors.

Middle East guys won’t have flashy suits, but I would be seriously disappointed if they don’t roll up in Golden Ferraris.

As seen on Twitter (usual disclaimer)

Villa investment could be complete as early as next week. Group from the Middle East are extremely wealthy so I'm told. May not be as financially crippled as you were fearing! The next question would be whether they trust Steve Bruce to take you up (I doubt it)

Even if we are bought out by billionaires, and history tells us it would be foolish to raise our hopes, we are still fucked due to FFP, aren't we? If Bill Gates, the bloke who owns Ikea and Dave Woodhall launch a joint bid, we would still have to sell Grealish (at least) just to avoid a points administration. Isn't that the case?

Would Bill and Dave see eye to eye anyway?

So if the takeover / investment happens, is it possible that we might keep Jack, Chester, etc. Even if we start the season with the squad we have now I would feel quite good, especially after the last few weeks. FFP would still be an issue, or did i read that it gets re-set with new owners? That cant be true, anyway maybe a few additions in January, then really look forward to next season

Like a few others, I'm not getting my hopes up on this one. It's wise not to really.

I'm with you on that Clampy - speculation and rumour was bad enough back in the day of the Sports Argus/Sunday Mercury / BRMB/Radio WM.Fast forward 25 years and Social Media adds a whole different angle .........mostly nonsense !
It's all very messy and I think unprofessional - almost makes Ellis look like an alternative option ...... I did say almost :)

I dont think takeover or not there is a chance that Jack stays, the question is more about ensuring there is someone competent in place to negotiate the deal with Spurs so that we don’t forego sell ons, performance incentives, loan options in order to take an extra £10 up front.

Chester on the other hand is a very good championship player who would be ok not excellent in premier so if a takeover happens we might have a chance of retaining

Stoke Sentinel (linked from Beeb gossip) seems to be thinking Chester to them is more or less done, sadly.

Is there anything stipulating how many points you get deducted for failing FFP. There is a defined number for going into Administration but I have not seen anything regarding FFP.
