I'm stopping near Swiss Cottage and have to arrange to meet others. Any good pub suggestions around there? Cheers

You might see one or two familiar faces in the Swiss Cottage.

I thought it was a bit of a dump when I used to stay around there 6 years ago?

As a pub The Swiss Cottage is probably nothing special but not a dump. Theres plenty of room, a semblance of a beer garden, & the tube is literally right outside and one stop to Wembley.

Ok - cheers, sounds like as good a place as any to meet up with some friends.

Ye Olde Swiss Cottage, impossible to miss if you alight at Swiss Cottage tube. Sam Smiths pub and base for a few H&V bretheren for the FA Cup Final.

*EDIT* As already mentioned! I need to try reading the rest of the thread.

I remember drinking in Uxbridge before and after the Bolton semi final at Wembley. Am I right in saying there is a pub called The Greyhound near Wembley that has a nice spot near the river? I have vague memories of drinking there before visits to Wembley for both football games and music gigs.

I’m pretty sure the Greyhound has now closed down.

The greyhound is closed now, remember my late brother and his mates taking me there in 1975 for the Norwich game as a young kid of 11. They all got pist

Depends what sort of ticket you have bought. If it's an advance ticket (i.e. generally cheaper than an open return) it will probably be valid only on the train you booked it against.

For the semi final against Liverpool I went from Moor Street and it was chaos.  Massive queue in town for the train down there and then an absolutely horrendous journey home, crammed in and standing all the way (train had to stop for an hour as the doors on the train in front wouldn't close at the station it was at).  Drove to High Wycombe for the final an got the train in from there.  Bit of a drive down there, but the train journey in and out was fine.  Planning to do that again, but have noticed that the trains from Moor Street are changing there on Saturday.  Is that right and if so, I can imagine it being pretty chaotic as it isn't the biggest of stations.

For Liverpool and Arsenal matches we started drinking in Baker st, huge Wetherspoons  called The Metropolitan bar - quite a few then as well.

One stop on Bakerloo line from Marleybone to pub then same Bakerloo line direct into Wembley - sorted

Hookeysmith, rather than fannying about on the tube it is only 300m or so to walk to Baker St from Marylebone.

There is a nicer pub 150m north of Baker St called the Volunteer - next to the Sherlock Holmes plaque and Beatles tat shop

Thanks buddy

We will of course drink our way closer to the ground as time goes on but the Whetherspoons was huge and did decent food IIRC

TrainLine say the £31.50 ones (whichever they are) are valid for any one which is the same price.
