Disappointing result just before the play offs when a win would give us some momentum and reduce my own doubt and some of the nerves. This wouldn't be a good time to forget how to score goals. We look a bit toothless without Grabban and Jack. I hope that Calderwood is right and we have the professionalism and ability to choke Middlesbrough.

If Boro hadn't of scored in 96th minute, three of the play off teams would've lost today.

I really don't see the issue, it was an away defeat at a very difficult away ground which could've easily happened in any other month with half our team rested.

Different division but I remember a few seasons ago Walsall won their final league game 5-0. They lost 6-1 on aggregate to Barnsley in the play offs.

Momentum has become the word of the year. When we got knocked out of the cups it was a Bad Thing because we lost momentum, apparently. We then went on our two best runs of the season.

Today meant nothing, we knew that from the off...he rested all the key players, we didn't pick up injuries, we knew what really matters regardless of the result...momentum or not.
Boro have won of the previous 4 games so they are hardly flying. It's a semi final and momentum doesn't win you those...players do.

Two games without a win, one goal in our last two games. It may be me being nervous but I'd have liked something more positive going into the Boro games. It probably means nothing and as I have said, I hope we have the nous to outdo them in every area, after all, we have more of everything than them.  You mention the great run we went on Dave, after the cup defeat, I note with interest though that we also seem to go on bad runs with Steve Bruce!! I hope this isn't one of them. I so hope I'm wrong!

We beat Ipswich 4-0 all of two weeks ago. They drew with Boro today. Are all on oneBoro forum or whatever it's called having panic attacks for not winning today, I doubt it.

Today was about having the strongest squad fresh and available for the play offs.
Given the choice of 2 victory’s and 2 key players out or where we are now, I know which I would take.

our main threat is Grabban, the Villa curse of turning formerly prolific strikers into those that can't hit a barn door with a banjo, mercifully seems not to have afflicted him yet. This will sound hyperbolic to some, but  I'm now seriously worried that Kodjia is just a shell of his former self. As for Scotty - why?

Onomah must be close to replacing either Adomah or hourihane for at least one of the play off games

He’s got energy and more quality on the ball

We don’t really have a proper alternative at left wing. Green doesn’t look ready. Grabban could play There but none of the alternative CF options look like a starter

I’d definitely sell Hogan if we could get anywhere near double figures. Can’t imagine many championship teams paying his wages though.

I'd sell Hogan for anything around £4/5 million, honestly, I want him to work out but he looks shite.

Who was the Villa fan in the Speedos and arm bands yesterday? Bet his sun burn is as bad as mine this morning. We had a great afternoon at the Southwark Tavern afterwards.

I decided to go to the Melton Mowbray cheese festival instead.
Great day.

I went to the cricket at Handsworth Park. Big reggae sound system playing throughout, jerk chicken stalls, lovely weather, it was ace.

DJ: Can de parents PLEASE keep de kids dem arf de pitch!

A quintessentially English scene enlivened by all the ethnicities there, spoilt only by thinking about all the people who go on about multi-culturalism not working.

Sorry. Bit o’ politics.

We had EAGA Gospel Choir and Morris dancers. Thank god I missed the latter.

I'm really surprised at all this Kodjia is rubbish stuff that seems to be cropping up regularly.

First of all he's come back from two serious injuries within the last year.

Secondly I thought he was great when he came on v Cardiff. Him and Grabban upfront was a nightmare for Cardiff to handle. Last week he was unlucky not to score v Derby and again we were on top from when he came on the pitch as he can stretch defences.

I want him and Grabban starting in the play offs. How many good games has Adomah really had since xmas? Great first half of the year but I think he's been off form for quite a while now, was same last season.

Agreed on Kodjia - along with Grealish still our most dangerous player on the ball. He just needs a run of games and the first goal to go in.

For those concerned about momentum - Huddersfield lost 3 of their last 4 games last season, by 4-1, 2-0 and 3-0. They had zero momentum going into the playoffs and yet still won them.
