I blame the BBC. From November onwards they will condone scenes of non league/lower league hooligans running onto pitches at small grounds. This culminates in copycat rioting at bigger grounds. Thousands of home supporters intent on celebrating and congratulating their own team which is a clear provocation and with the sole aim of terrorising away fans.

IIRC Villa got a huge (six figures) fine for the pitch invasion. I'm sure Lawro wailing "Its like a scene from the 80s" after the final whistle didn't help.

For someone like Lawrenson who was at Heysel and would be even more aware than most of Hillsborough to make that comment is bizarre to say the least.
