We were told to play Chris Woakes, who was absolutely useless, so he could be assessed for the Test Team. Makes a farce of the CC competition in my view.
To make it worse, 6 of the games at Edgbaston will have been at the start and end of the season where weather conditions are very cold where I sit in the Skyline. Don't think I will bother next season.

Sorry A/C but why sit in Skyline...i occasionally sit there for a short sharp T20 game but basically that end of the ground is freezing, even in this weather.
This season, with the weather as it has been, has been brilliant at City End in block 9 where i reside.....shame some of white ball performances haven't been
as brilliant.
The club won't want to lose you.

Bears upper order brittle again. Sibley just isn't at it. Hopefully Olly Stone and Henry Brookes back for next match.

The bowlers were hardly the problem though were they?

Stone is just back from injury and they are managing Brookes’ workload given his age. We are well covered in the bowling department even with the upcoming loss of Rankin and Wright.

The batting continues to disappoint, Hain for one should be making plies of runs in all forms of cricket but in red ball cricket he does not dominate. I suspect he will become a white ball specialist and rarely play the red ball game which would be a great shame.

Yes and no, we bowled them out fairly cheaply but we had them on the ropes twice and let them score 100-150 more runs than they should've, their first innings had 120-150 written all over it until we let their tail drag them to a competitive score.

I agree but it was as much about the conditions changing. Lords was overcast on day one, batting was difficult and we had them 70-odd for 7. The sun broke through, the clouds disappeared and batting became easier. Typical English conditions really, bowler friendly under cloud and batsman friendly in the sun.

I agree, but even with that letting a team get to 236 from that position is poor.

In much the same way we started yesterday morning hoping to be chasing something around 150-160 and ended up letting them push the lead over 200.

The batsmen need to take a look at themselves but the bowlers weren't aggressive enough either.  Sidebottom was poor and I'm convinced Woakes was nowhere near the fitness levels required.

I’d be surprised if he gets anywhere near the test side so they should release him back to his county so he can play for the Bears in the Blast. We need him after a run of defeats.

We also missed the pace and aggression of Barker who is a decent bat too. I don’t know if he’s injured or just wasn’t picked to make way for Woakes.

Brookes is more or less out for the season with a stress fracture of the back.

Really poor first over from Woakes, was bowling 2-3 yards too short.

It’s around now in games like this I think is this a belter of a pitch or is our bowling substandard?

Looks like it will be a 5 over match at best.

It’s a format that’s so weighted in favour of the batsmen that I won’t dish out too much criticism to our attack.

Pack a line up with big hitters and regardless of who your bowlers are you get massacred.

I saw something last week where Jos Buttler was giving a T20 batting masterclass, Rob Key was bowling to him and he was just hitting six after six into the empty stands, not much different to the real thing. A bowler going for 7 or 8 an over is deemed to be good figures in a lot of matches which doesn’t suggest much of a contest.
